If you go to www.crazynutracing.com you will see that a Nitro Dirtbike is in the works but thats about all you will see is a picture! The only other thing I've heard of is some of the guys here talking about converting the Ricky Carmichael (spelling?) bike to nitro, but thats about it. Sorry not much help, just wanted to share what I know.

The only true dirtbikes I've ever seen were either completely homemade, or modded electric bikes. The problem with dirtbikes is that they need some type of gyro system to stay up. r/c road bikes can depend on the centrifical force from the spinning wheels and good traction from the tires to stay up, but obviously dirtbikes will be in the air and in areas of poor traction a lot. So far, no company that I know of has taken the time/expense to develop a hobby grade nitro dritbike.

Tom mentioned the Ricky Carmichael bike. It has a large gyro in the rear wheel. It actually performs pretty good and is a blast to run, but kinda slow in stock trim. It could be modified to nitro, I'm sure, but that would be a job!

Hi Guys:

A few years back Graupner marketed an electric Yamaha YZ250 Moto Cross. There's a few pics on rcbike.com

Go to:

http://www.rcbike.com/

Click on the 'Dirt Bikes' global navigation button.

Hope this helps

Best regards,

Forgot that one Kevin. I have seen the nitro version of it on e-bay recently. I didn't win it.

After I posted I realized my post was referring to an electric bike . Steve, thanks for saving my bacon on this and pointing out that there was a nitro version

I think we all want a nitro dirt bike.

What is really cool about that bike is the mini-differential it uses to change the longitudonal roatation of the engine crank to transverse for the sprockets!

That's the pics I was talking about. Neat little setup, huh?

Tonight I'm packing up the bikes and all the gear for the flight to Vegas Thursday morning. I hope I can get out on the track Thurs afternoon for some practice laps! I'm really looking forward to it! Then next week I'm taking the CBR up to the mountians for some full scale sporty bike riding with a pretty fast group of guys.

Two weekends in a row of motorcycles. I owe the wife big-time!

Banshee Dude,... if i remember right, the guy who owns it said he stopped building it cause of other interests and hobbies and that some parts were to be sorced to get it finished...! That's all i know..!
A manifold with a right angle turn right at the manifold mount would fit in it..!

The quad in your Avatar would be something to make RC,... or get a T-Maxx truck, customize the chassis and rear axle with a chain drive setup, and somehow get a quad body for it and a 1/4th scale rider,.. that would be cool..!!!!

A friend of mine that works at a LHS gave me a Kyosko catalog that has it in it and the 1/8 scale bikes etc...! I don't think it would be all that hard to whip one up,.. i've got enough stuff from 1/10 cars and other parts from the bikes to do it, just need the make a body..!
