Brushless for Slow Stick AP - Sugestions

I am looking to go brushless on my Slow Stick that I use for AP with a Pencam SD. because of price concerns, I have been looking at the Himaxx, but I have no idea what to get.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Mine works great with a Himax 2015-4100, phoenix 10 ESC, and 3s 1500 Lipos. It's
mounted in a GWS 300C-D gearbox with a CNC adapter. I think you can find all that
stuff at http://www.allerc.com. Prop is GWS 11x8.

MX,

I am currently using 8 and 9 cell Kan-1050 NiMH batteries. Any idea how this would work with the 2015-4100?

I'm running the Himaxx 2025-4200 with a GWS "D" gearbox, 12x6 prop and 8 cell KAN's - 1050's. My initial hang up with the set-up was having to find, then install, a new GWS 350 10T pinion. I really like the performance of this motor but would like to try the Nippy or PJS and eliminate a gearbox. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't tried it, but with the 9-cell, probably similar, although a little
heavier.

I'm running mine currently with Himaxx 2015/4100 in the same GB as MX using 8 cell KAN1050s. SWEET! Will be trialing 9cell KAN1050s this weekend hopefully of the weather holds.

Just an update. I went withthe himaxx 2015-4100 flying with 8 cell Nimh and 9 cell Nimh Kan 1050's. Just a quick test flight today. It was pretty windy, so no high altitude flights yet, but it really is nice.

Hi Guys what would be the performace difference between say a Himax 2025/5300 on a GWS D gearbox 12X6 prop or a Nippy 1810/100 Direct drive with 12X6 prop, based on a 2S2P 2 cell 2400mA LIth-poly.

Simon - I have no idea - Brushless newbie, but I am sure someone will know.

I got in a flight on my 2015-4100 on 9 cell Kan 1050 11X8 prop this AM and wow. In 3 minutes I had as much altitude as I used to get in 8 minutes. This is a pretty nice setup. I think it will end up being easily removeable so I can use it in my Mountain Models smoothE as well.

What would be the difference perfromance-wise between the 2015 and the 2025 when running it on a 7 or 8 cell 1100 mah nimh? Just thinking about a brushless motor- these seem like they work pretty well.

I have probably gone totally overboard with this, but oh well, it'll be fun! Just ordered:

HiMaxx HA2025-5300 with Phoenix 25A ESC, 2s1p 2600mAh LiPo motocalc says it will pull it vertical @ over 1800fpm on my stock "D" (6.6:1) gearing with 1280 prop at 18.6A full throttle and 9A level flight (63% throttle)

Will probably end up governing it with EPA on my radio so as not to pull the wings off No probs getting altitude now for my AP fetish
Only reason for going totally overboard is so that I dont have to upgrade for my next model.

Will post pics when the stuff arrives, and when I test.

With that Battery and ESC you could of gone for the Nippy 1812/100 Outrunner,
It's a lighter motor but delivers more static thrust and less amps...
I looked into about 20 different brushless setup for the SS and the Nippy Outrunner seemed to be the best overall option, will go virtical and nearly out of site at 3/4 quarter throttle...

with an 11x4.7 prop on the 2S will produce 28.6 OZ of thrust at 15.5 amps...WOW

with a 10X4.7 prop on a 3S will give you 42 OZ of thrust at 21 amps...crazy power....

I dont have a lot of patience

Guess I should have looked around a bit more, but it seemed like a tossup between the Model Motors MiniAC and 4.43 gearbox or the himaxx with stock 6.6 gearbox. Main reason I went for the himaxx in the end was guys here use em, and aircraft-world were out of MiniAC's

The 2025 is still .05oz lighter than the stock 300c motor
