JePe A-4 Skyhawk revisited

Hi Gang.

As a few of you guys know I've had this model since it released from www.jepe.org (year 2002)
It was built and flown but never painted, which was way overdue

Finally pulled up my sleeves and got to it and here is the Skyhawk nearing its completion. Painted and now receiving decals. The wings will get some attention aswell as I move on.

Decals (waterslides) are made by Ralf Schneider and paint used in this case was Tamiya Akrylics. (Insignia White / US Navy Grey)

Looks awesome Haldor. What did you use to make the rivet detail? Or are they molded in?

"Heinemann's Hotrod" is looking good. I think that name is valid, correct me if I'm wrong. I was standing next to an A-4 recently at Chino Airport when I was in California for the Best In The West 2004 (also known as the "Gathering of ETWHC" by some). It's smaller than an F-15 but it's still a big airplane. The wing was just about eye level to me and I'm 5' 11 3/4" (yes, they do stack poop that high in Texas, when you do it becomes sentient and wants to design and fly EDFs).

Excellent finish, as usual. Super job for a super aeroplane.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys Its finally getting its well deserved makeover.

Ted - the panels and rivets are molded in but on a flat fuselage these can easily be simulated with tape panels and a riveting tool (soldering iron for instance)
Once added prime and paint. Then do a wash with dark brown thinned reeaal good around any edges and after 10-15mins sand it down gently with high grit (2-4000 used) pad.

Ed - Heinemanns Hotrod it is Thanks for the trivia, I thought the Skyhawk was smallish.

I'll get more pics as I get on with the program, more to follow.

Moving onto the wing, panels here are scribed into the paint/fg layer and "oiled" with the brown thinned paint then sanded down with a 4000grit pad. A plastic model is excellent reference In this case its a 1/48scale Hasegawa kit.

I never thought Jepe models had that much detail moulded in them. Fantastic! Is there a US distributor?

Mario - you can either order direct from JePe in the Netherlands or go through the US rep which was the 3rd poster in this thread, Agustapower or Bob which is his real name

The fuselage have molded panels / rivets but not the wing which was detailed by myself. The oily wash highlight these lines / rivets very well and is really what makes the model come alive.

The F-16 is now all hollow molded and has detail on the entire airframe.
It is spectacular in it's detail. I am putting one together now.
The previous version just had detail on the fuse and vertical as the wing was sheeted foam. The A4 will be all hollow molded in the near future probably late summer or fall.
