Massive RC closing its doors, liquidation sale. Thanks for all the support.
UPDATE 9/24/2016
MassiveRC has decided to close its doors. I would like to thank all of our customers, friends, family, associates, our lone employee, team pilots, and especially my loving wife for their staunch support. Last year my family decided to make the move to South Dakota and leave the business in Florida. I knew the risks and consequences of doing so. My focus in life has admittedly shifted from FPV racing, which I was once very passionate about, but being in South Dakota has shifted my passion and priorities and while I've tried to make a last-ditch effort to revive MassiveRC, it just wasn't in God's plan. I'm very thankful for the experience and early success and even with some of the failed ventures, don't hold any grudges and sincerely wish the best to those involved. While MassiveRC will be closing its doors, my family is doing fine and will survive, which I'm very grateful for as there are many who can't say the same in today's economy. The closing of MassiveRC is quite frankly worth the trade-off as my quality in life living in South Dakota has never been better, so I have no regrets. We will be liquidating all inventory, most at below cost so you'll be able to jump on some good deals. Please be patient though as orders may take a couple days vs going out the same day as we wind down. Thank you again for your support and may God bless, Romeo Barrera, aka MassiveOverkill UPDATE 2/19/2016 Hi guys, another update to our bundles with race-winning components Our popular bundle now has SPRacingF3 Mini as an FCB option and the default motors have been upgraded to Emax MT2204 V2 Cooling Motors or you can upgrade to the thrust record breaking Emax RS2205 motors capable of 1 Kg of thrust per motor! No more waiting for Cobras to be in stock. Turns out our Massive 20A Pro ESCs beat both Little Bee 20A as well as all KISS models, as a matter of fact, it was the best performing F330 MCU and ran close to the 30A Little Bees: http://www.miniquadtestbench.com/esc...hq-4040bn.html We now offer the Spadger 180 frame with camera as well as in it's own bundle: http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/706...0mm-frame.html http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/716...me-bundle.html UPDATE 1/14/2016 Happy New Year Everyone!! Some major updates to the bundle package: Massive Acro Blackbox V2 is now default FCB included in the bundle. The V2 has RC input pads replaced with servo pins and now has an integrated 5V regulator. As a result, we're eliminating the 5V regulator from the bundle: http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/694...rol-board.html New 20A Pro ESCs: Oneshot 125 with much faster F330 MCU http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/696...a-pro-esc.html Choose from our ZMR 250 frame with PDB with stock 3mm arms or upgraded 5mm arms, Emax frame with 5mm arms, or VooDooQuads VDQ220 frame http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/35-bundle-packages PLEASE NOTE: This bundle package is always evolving with better components. As a result pictures or components may not reflect what you actually get but replacement components will be better or price reduced accordingly. Choose a frame or use your own. If you choose our ZMR frame we'll include our custom ZMR PDB You can omit the frame from this bundle if you have your own that you want to use, obviously you won't get the frame(s) pictured. Massive Acro BlackBox V2 or SPRacingF3 Mini Flight Control Boards Your choice of 4 Emax MT2204 V2 or Emax RS2205 race motors all CW threaded. 4 M5 aluminum nylock nuts (for MT2204, RS2205 include them already) 4 MassiveRC OneShot125 20 Amp Pro ESCs 8 M3 5mm nylon standoffs (color depends upon the flavor of the month) 4 M3 screws (color depends upon the flavor of the month) 4 M3 nuts (color depends upon the flavor of the month) 4 M3 10m Standoffs (color depends upon the flavor of the month) XT60 Power Lead MassiveRC 36 mm power distribution board (note this will not be included if you select the ZMR frame or add CleanHawk PDB as it's not needed) (** see notes) Velcro battery strap 20 4" zip ties 4 MassiveRC 6040 props perfect for learning and are nearly unbreakable (2 colors but if supplies get low we may do all 1 color) (*) Because the NightHawk arms are now 5mm thick, the smaller standoffs from the older kit are no longer needed\included as our new ESCs are thinner (no electrolytic capacitor) and will fit between the upper and lower decks with 5mm of clearance. If you want them, you can get them by ordering the hardware kit sold separately. (**) If you opt for the ZMR frame in ths bundle, it comes with our custom PDB, which handles the tasks of seperate BEC\PDB. Similarly if you order the CleanHawk PDB it also won't come with seperate BEC\PDB. Order a CleanHawk board with this bundle and get an additional $8 off. (CleanHawk PDB will ship directly from 2bluesc which is also in the US). Check out my blog on putting together the Emax kit: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2288687 And integrating accessories: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2404543 UPDATE 7/19/2015 New 18A ESCs are in as well as custom ZMR PDB UPDATE 7/16/2015 All things happen for a reason. For whatever reason the website was crashing hard this week. I moved the website to better resources, which now allows me to implement drop-down combinations. This reduces the number of packages I have to create and now you can simply just tack on or change what components you want in your bundle: http://www.massiverc.com/Shop/en/492...c-bundle-.html UPDATE 6/23/2015 I'll be moving this week with limited internet access and won't be able to answer my phone. Orders will proceed as normal but if you need something customized, please hold off until I return around after July 4th holiday. You can now choose between the ZMR250 or updated Emax frame (technically it's not Emax anymore) UPDATE 6/4/2015 As this bundle is continually improving, it's hard to keep up with documenting the changes. The next Pre Order should get 5mm all carbon arms at no extra cost. New OneShot125 ESCs will be bundled with it but I cannot give specifics, other than it they'll be either 12A or 18A, no BEC, and smaller than our original MassiveRC branded ZTWs, which had electrolytic capacitors, whereas the new ones will have ceramic caps. Burst should be ~20A or more and should support 4S as usual so long as you don't get crazy and run 6045 bullnose props on 2400KV at 100% throttle for ridiculous periods of time. We are obtaining ZMR frames. The demand for them can no longer be ignored. No plans on discontinuing the Emax frame (although it may be possibly replaced with Emax's new ARF/RTF bundle). Details to follow. Once Emax motors are back in stock, we'll make another SKU that's cheaper than the $205 Airbot bundle. UPDATE 5/22/2015 Latest bundle has Airbot motors (Emax motors will still be an option upon restock) NOW with OneShot125. Both our MassiveRC 12A OneShot ESCs and our SN20As are capable of extreme abuse: RS2K doing torture tests MassiveRC's 12A Oneshot ESCs and our SN20As using 4S, Cobra 2300KV motors and 6045 props:
Since we already have 8 threads on the Emax Pro 250 all carbon fiber frame, what's one more eh? Just so there's no confusion: THIS IS THE ALL CARBON FIBER VERSION NOT THE CARBON\GLASS VERSION THIS IS THE ALL CARBON FIBER VERSION NOT THE CARBON\GLASS VERSION THIS IS THE ALL CARBON FIBER VERSION NOT THE CARBON\GLASS VERSION THIS IS THE ALL CARBON FIBER VERSION NOT THE CARBON\GLASS VERSION New Airbot Motors available in Bundle: (Please note that specs may change but substituted components will be better or price reduced accordingly).

The Inspiration for the Name
Here's what may be M.O.'s inspiration for the name:
the This is an Actual frame grab from the 808 camera on either my DeadFish or BlackFish quad as I circuited our course at a local park. Not zoomed or cropped. This little guy ran right across in front of me as I was navigating "The Needle" (There is another tree just off camera on the left.), He jumped up on the rail, and across to the tree on the right. No squirrels were harmed in the making of this shot. As I passed, he ran around the far side of the tree and, according to one of our spotters, issued such profanity in squirrel language, directed at my quad, as I never heard in my life, and cannot reproduce here, translated or not. |

On a link you supplied above about the frames the guy says this...Is this the same frame as yours? Good point, Avt. Thanks for your comment. But most CF frames are also about 300% more expensive. There are a number of CF frames on the market, but they are all priced so high because carbon fiber is an expensive material. There's no getting around that. That's why we decided to make a CF blend. Sure, it adds some extra weight, but by only using about half the carbon fiber, we can make it affordable to more RC pilots.
There are pros and cons to everything. Maybe the Night Hawk 250 won't appeal to people who don't mind spending $150 on just the frame alone. However, I think it's good to have choices...and prior to the Night Hawk, there just wasn't an inexpensive alternative. chris malec is offline Send a private message to chris malec Find More Posts by chris malec Site Sponsor Reply With Quote https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...0#post28943096 |

This looks sweet MO. Do you have a build video or log for this? I have 2 weeks vacation coming up over the holiday and this might be a fun project for my first full build, but the training wheels (a build video) would sure be helpful
Also, what is the Massive Acro FC based on? MultiWii? Naze? VERY interested in this package! Edit: Oh yeah, what batteries and props do you recommend for this little beastie? |

Hey AKC, witstick,
You can check out the links at the end of the OP for various builds. Some pointers I would give is after inventorying all parts, wash the frame as carbon fiber dust isn't pleasant. You can go one extra step and wet sand the edges so they aren't sharp. You also want to make sure as you're assembling any carbon fiber frame that you don't have any exposed electronics as carbon fiber is conductive. Finally you should strategically place your antennas so that they have good clearance of frame parts as carbon fiber blocks RF signals. As far as a the FCB: I'll nudge you towards this thread which should explain things: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2249574 I recommend 2 setups: If you're just starting out and want to take it easy then you can go 6045 props on our 1500 mAh 2S LiPos. http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...-2s-lipo-.html You'll need our JST pigtail which I just chopped the price in half on: http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...de-20-awg.html which you can solder onto the included PDB. If you're ready now/once you're ready for 3S power then both the HQ 5045 bullnose and HQ 6045 are suitable with our 1500 3S LiPo: http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...-3s-lipo-.html The 6045s are good for maximum thrust and all-out speed while the 5045s are better for slalom\acro and have less loftiness and will also give you more ESC headroom with the 2204 motors. For higher altitudes, I'd recommend the 6045s. If you still have questions about the FCB, PM me and I'll give you the lowdown but look at the resemblance: https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ontroller.html http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...rol-board.html |
