3D printed multi-rotors (list of downloads)

Now this thread can be where it belongs. When you start a thread like this in the 3D forum, you should keep up on the OP and provide all relevant links so people don't have to read through the whole thread. That is what I will do here. As you post your designs, I will update the first post so we have an easy reference for getting designs. Sometimes lugging through thingiverse can be daunting.

This was the original thread:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2092302

I will list designs by designer, followed by there designs. If you have links to buy your designs, or want to be PM'd to make a print for someone, please say so. I will start with my designs. As I browse the internet and find other designs, I will add too!

I was using chrome and they work. I opened the page in firefox, and if I click on a picture of a product, they all work right down to the last level where the image expands to a larger size, although the header image is not appearing in firefox. So I am not sure which links you are talking about. I will have to tell my administrator about it, but not sure what to tell him. Can you post a link? Thanks.

I just went through 4 updates in firefox (since I don't use it anymore). In each update the image links work. The latest version is 33.0.2. Try updating firefox. I am also using Win 7. Make sure Java is up to date as well.

The only thing that is not working in firefox is the header image, but it works in chrome and IE. Not sure why, my admin is looking into it. It's a free web-site from my brother, so getting favors done takes time. If this really takes off I will probably switch that around and pay, although this works and many people have purchased through the store.

I will be doing a price change soon, and lower prices. Finally getting back into a groove here after taking 4 months to rebuild my basement and make a 3D print center.

Very cool, I might make this my first tri-copter. I added it to the list, and a bunch more from my collection, the ones I thought worth linking to.

Ive printed one, the frame design is fantastic.

The problem I see with the MHQ etc, is that they are printing flat parts - because its PLA or ABS, theyre not strong enough being a few mm thick - the Tricopter is WAY WAY better in this respect because the arms are printed deeper, but also have a good width, and that overcomes the issue completely, it's such a strong design!

Still waiting on electronics for mine, but can't wait.

I agree about those other frames. My first quad was a f450. I struggled for 6 months to get that little wobble out of it after a flip. After a few FC, props, motors, tuning, etc I realized the frquency of the wobble was equal to the flex rate of the arms themselves. Got the same result with the ZMR 250.

I mean if you are just hovering around, it is sufficient I suppose. The wobble will be minimal, but any wobble will put strain on motors and ESC, also cut down flight time. That's why I spent around 6 months designing my frame. Wobble is essentially none existent, and parts are printed in a way to minimize the weaknesses of the printing process.

Up next will be my FPV design.

I use PLA on all of my frames for pure rigidity... ( abs if your setup runs hot)

They s**t* all over DJI frames, f450 has heaps of flex, you wont experience this if it was made with PLA, they are using nylon glass fiber renforced.. s**t*

Been using printed frames for longer than 12 months, Having spent a sh*t* ton of money on this stuff, I am more than satisfied with 3d printed frames, for acro, slow video, or big builds!

If your thinking 3d printed stuff is to weak, chances are you have had rubbish prints.
its much like an art 3d printing and takes time to build up the skills, once your their you probably wont go back unless your pilot skills involve you crashing every time you fly.

I've been printing for 12 months myself. I've been in mechanical design for 35 years. I've tested the strength of several materials produced in different fashions. 3d printing is always weaker than cast or machined parts.

3d printing is tricky in that you want sufficient heat for proper layer bonding, but too much and the material becomes brittle. Speed and size of print all affect how much temp you should use.

As far as my piloting skills go, I am always pushing the limits. The only way you can understand what I am saying is to fly acro with one of my designs. I take a lot of pride in it, because a lot of thought and work went into it. Going to do some 4s flying soon with my 250 design. Perhaps I am overly critical, but my quads are on rails. My designs have outperformed the FC. Don't try this at home: ?:
