  • Inform the user that the board is properly powered
Alarm / Red / D32
  • his is configurable in the FCT and will flash as well as trigger a pin on the IO port when active.
Status / Orange / D13
  • LED status signification

  • Presently linked with the Status LED in MultiWii code.
Stable / Blue / D31
  • Stable information provided by MultiWii. Should be ON when the copter is Armed and in Stable (Angle / Horizon) mode.

GPS Status / Blue
  • This is connected to the GPS chip status output. It is not triggered by the ATmega2560 and we do not have any control on it.
    Steady when no or under 5 satellites are lock and blinking over 5.

Lynxmotion Quadrino Nano - Flashing / Testing

We need the Lynxmotion Quadrino Nano to be in perfect working order before shipping them to any customers. This brings us the need to accurately test each unit prior to even packaging them in the injection molded casings.

To solve this, we worked on making an application that would test everything needed in one action. It uses a custom programmer tool made of an Arduino Nano board with the right connector and pin-out for the Quadrino Nano and the boards USB.

Keep in mind that this software is not needed for customers, only for Manufacturing / Testing of the units. We wanted to show it as a teaser of the progress we are making.

Here are the different steps tested with this software:
  • Burn & Verify the Arduino Mega Bootloader to the ATmega2560
  • Program a custom Test Firmware / Sketch to be able to run all the other tests
  • Test the Bootloader / Test Firmware / USB Serial
  • USB Data test for large amounts of data
  • I2C Lines verification
  • Gyroscope test for normal behaviour
  • Accellerometer test for normal behaviour
  • Magentometer test for normal behaviour
  • Barometer test for normal behaviour
  • GPS presence and power-up
  • Program the Venus GPS chip for default settings
  • Program the MultiWii sketch

Everything is done automatically. The Arduino ISP programmer is first detected and then the Quadrino USB initiates the process.

Spektrum Satellite - Setup
  • The pins location on the "Quadrino Nano" side of the wiring cable need to be changed.
  • Use a pair of tweezers or the tip of an X-Acto to gently lift the tab retaining the pin in the connector and pull on the wire to release it. Be careful not to break the tab while doing this.
  • Pinout for the Spektrum Cable when looking from the "tab" side of the connector and left to right:
    Spektrum Standard on both side of the cable : Signal | GND | Positive
    Quadrino side of the cable after modification: Positive | Signal | GND

  • Our DSMX Compatible receiver (LemonRX) needed the option "ElevenBitsOr2048" to be set to work.

This will be a lot of fun.
We can't wait to shop the actual board, i know it's frustrating not to have actual real images. There is one of the pcb itself in the pack.
