The next spaceport was quite a deal in real estate.

1 mile from Mexico, it was the southernmost piece of land big enough for a launchpad. Everyone else is going to have to be farther north, unless Mexico is reformed.

From buying launchpads in Vandenberg to SLC-34 to Texas, the only one he's ever used is still the good old SLC-40. Then, there was buying half of Reno for making batteries & buying the New United Motors factory for making cars. If he's not yet used any of it, at least he's been prolific at out spending everyone else on the absolute best real estate.

Musk & Bezos could be the 1st high profile examples of technology allowing 1 person to be more productive than ever before. 30 years ago, 1 person couldn't know enough about 3 different areas or be in 3 locations to run 3 diverse businesses in banking, cars, & space travel.

In the old days, you did just 1 thing or you invested at a high level. You made computers or you made newspapers or you bought real estate, in 1 location, your whole life. Paul Allen & Richard Branson could only diversify at the investing level, but they didn't have the tools to simultaneously know how rocket engines worked & how credit card processing worked & they couldn't simultaneously be in Mojave & Seattle.

Musk & Bezos know they can look up anything they need to know in an instant, they can virtually be in 3 locations, & they're not afraid to use it. Workers have not benefited from technology. They're still expected to specialize in 1 area for their whole life & they're still expected to physically be in 1 location.
