Concept CX4-TD (Top Drive) Build Thread

Seems like soon I will have the chance to start putting together a CX4-TD (in production now).

It will be a big task to build it with top notch detail as Roland senior does with all the models coming straight out from his workshop.

Most important thing for me is to keep things as tidy and sturdy as possible and document here the process in the hope that all the CX4-TD users can share experiences and collectively create a good set of building instructions.

Next stop: Add some pictures (T-10 days or so)

A wee bit anxious, aren't we? Starting a build thread before even getting the kit...

It reminds me of those posts saying something like "I'm going to put my super duper plane up for sale tomorrow in the classifieds. Just letting you know now so you can watch for it". They always make me laugh .

Well, servos and other goodies need to be selected and ordered ahead of time.

Plus Nick needs to stop attending contests till he gets some stuff done

Well, I used all Graupner servos as I'm a Team Graupner now.

427/428 for topdrive and 281 for fuse.

other brand should be

Topdrive: Hyperion ds09scd/Tahmazo 6011/MKS 6100/KST 245h
Tails: JR 285/188/MKS6100/Hitec 5045/KST 245s/ Futaba 3154/3156

According to my RDS CX4, a 520 1s lipo with 8-10g receiver in the nose should be comes out a perfect CG and light weight.

I've never used the 427/428 will have a look at those, besides I have only one week to order the components. Hope to be ordering stuff tonight (if that is too far ahead of time then be it! :P)

My questions and concerns now are more on the side of the batteries, I got used to the NiMH used on the CX2 (kan 400 2/3AAA if im correct) but those are sold directly by HKM-Taiwan and there wont be time to wait for them.

Searching for 520 1s lipo.. found this:

HobbyKing shipping rates to here offer only FedEx so is a no go..
Thanks for the hints.

Nick, you have been hanging to much with English language guys.

Yes give us a shape, weight, or model number on that 550 Lipo.

It's the same batt I'm using in the cx and almost all my plane.
1.5hr with 631.
2.5hr with 411bl

enough for a contest.

I plan to stick with Rolands packs. I can trust them 100% of the time.
