I'd be glad to put a 70mm in here as I have many laying around without a home, and they are for 5S. However, I wonder how easily that can be done on this F5 when the area has been engineered for a larger EDF, 80mm. It's easy to remove foam, but in this case, we will have to close or encapsulate a new area for the smaller EDF if we can't just simply move the 70mm back in the fuse where it narrows (as it may not narrow enough). Alpha, can you comment on that?

if the swiss had bought the F-20, they would still have a very capable front line fighter, with no need to buy the grippen
also, the F-20 was meant as a F5 replacement, as a foreign sales fighter. northrop couldnt sell any beacuse the USAF wouldnt back them...why? because the F-16 had just come out, and they didnt want a foreign fight that was capable of mopping the floor with their new toy...so, the USAF didnt back the sales of the F20, and no forein country would buy them because of that....pretty sad really....one of the best fighters that wasnt allowed to exist. stoneenforcer, i completely agree....just stick a HET 6904 in it, a HET 5s motor and a 30C 5s 5000, youve got a lighter package that would easily go 130-140mph right out of the box. couldnt possible cost more than the current setup. you dont need HET brand motors, anything that can handle 1500W would work. stick to 4 or 5 blade fans. case in point..i bought 2 50mm 10 blade fans for my T38 project....i found out they made 24oz of thrust at 600W...i ended up going to a more efficient 4 blade fan, and now the thrust is up to about 38oz per fan at the same watts.... |

F-20 vs F-5
+1, also a 70mm (in foam)
for 90mm, there is the HET, but that won't satisfly the scale enthusiasts http://www.highendrc.com/index_eprod...roducts_id=339 wonder why there are F-5s, but hardly any F-20, although the single exhaust makes life easier for the EDF? |

I"m just trilled they didn't go with the blue camo on this one, and I'm loving this aggressor scheme. I do find it a little ironic that the blue camo would make this one disappear but it's fine for the Mirage 2k.
On a different topic, this is smaller than the Starmax F-5, which was a 70mm model and was really quite large for 70mm, but a great flier and really slowed down well for landing. This one should be great then! Is there any video of the prototype? |
