The best in EDF since 2005

Hey Pete, answered your PM, yeah I do try to keep the batt leads as short as I can get them, I trim here and there, move the esc forward as much as I can, adding caps as a last resort. There is often wasted wire in these models. The HW stuff has always been very well made with very high quality components. I have 3 of the V5 in service right now, one of the new 120A 6s with 8A bec running the whole model, and two of the 130A 14s V5 models in 4kw warbirds.

JC, I think you misunderstand my post. I'm not questioning Extreme RC, et al.
The Hobbywing ESC's are BEAST! I'm simply trying to understand how they made a stock ESC that can handle 18" battery extension leads without additional capacitance?

I'm trying to design a similar setup with long battery leads but on 14s...

anyone tried JF 110 780kv long can motor on 14s yet? or do you think it will be a reliable setup (if anyone has experience even with other air frames)?

I see all the data for JF110 are for 10-12s systems, but has anyone ran it on 8s? Like a HET 700-1080kv motor? Reason I ask is because I like the weight of my current 8s Stock setup but want a lil more kick with out going up a bunch in weight. Keeping her light has been helpful in keeping my gear and mounts in good condition even after some not so good landings and even a couple crashes which I know 12s would’ve most likely damaged my gear and mount beyond repair. Like I said there are benefits to keeping it light and that is the main reason I’m looking to keep it on 8s. If not I guess 10s will be the next step, but trying to avoid it. Thanks

Found some info. Looks like 8s Jetfan 110 gives 6.5kg of thrust which is about 14lbs and the jet weights 6.06kg on 12s which 13.4lbs .

I would be interested in that info as well...She's a heavy beast on 12S and I know for a fact I would feel much better about this jet if she weighed a significant amount less. As I continue to progress in age, the less pucker factor the better!

On 8s stock I will say she isnít a speed demon and loops are nearly impossible from level flight unless you are coming out of a dive. She does fly decent once up to speed after climb out. Iím hoping that a 8s 110JF 1080 setup will give me the same thrust as a 12s stock 700kv setup but with 8s weight , a plus plus on both sides of my wants! The stock 12s setup isnít all that bad itís just the weight of 12s thatís a drag and punishment, so if I could have that 12s thrust on 8s weight with a JF110 Iím all smiles.

Any idea of an estimated flight time with that set up?

stock 8s pulls 100a once settled and thatís static. inflight I donít remember but I know it drops to into the 90s and your full throttle most of the flight and flight times are 4min. Iím thinking with JF110 1080kv 8s you shouldnít need to be full throttle most of the time since thrust will be up @ same weight , maybe 4.5-5min flights on my 5200mah lipos . Especially since draw will be around 110a static and should drop to low 100s or even high 90s once in flight . Iím hoping someone can provide real numbers and not my guesstimates.

Amen to that! I don't care what she weighs, but she needs to have the thrust component to match, and then I am happy!

Pretty sure I have the 1080Kv motor in stock in 8mm shaft, it would certainly reduce the weight, 4 cells, 400+ grams instantly gone.

I would love to see a good lightweight lower voltage setup. Especially if the flight times can be pushed a bit!

My favorite pack is the 3,800 mah 12s pack. The Jet flies a lot more nimble on this setup. I've stopped flying her with the 6,000 12s packs. She'll go for 5 minutes but it's a different jet with all that weight.
