V1 Buzzbomb


The Buzzbomb looks like it would be an easy subject to model as a first ejet, or maybe slope scale . I did an unsuccesful search here , I was thinking in the 30" size range. I have 2 KP44 fans but they are not powerful enough as a single unit and I was planing to us them on an A10 anyway. I've downloaded some 3 views and I wondered if anyone here has any more info like plans or one they have modeled , Thanks.

There is a V-1 plan for a single KP-44 (was underpowered) in one of the magazines currently on sale. I think it was Sailplane and Electric Modeler, or Silent Flight, or something similar. (Was not in EFI) Someone else chime in here with what it is. It would probably work great with a WeMoTec Microfan or Vasa Fan 55 as well, with mods.

I think Kress Jets still has a kit or plans for a V-1. Look at the old EDF columns in Ezone. Chris true tested the RD tandem fan in one.

CORRECTION: per Tim H, it is in the current copy on Jet Modeler International.

The more I think about it the 30" size is just to small, I'm not really into that lite of an airframe. The 50"-60" slope model with plans for a power unit later makes more sense to me . I get much better life out of the more robust models. The V1 is ideal for that, maybe a little more wing and the aft tailpipe in profile for yaw stability.
No Dynajet! I saw one of those things fly many years ago , the model was a speed , control liner. Fast isn't even close to what this thing was (not to mention the sound from hell) . No control, and the faster it goes the faster it goes. The airframe would have to be made out of metal because the damn thing makes so much heat. I have to stop thinking about it because the idea is starting to appeal to me . Thanks for the info.

27" span, s-400 cobalt direct. 22 ounce AUW

I can't see it working well on a fan, though, as the ID of the stove-pipe is only about 1 1/4".

A small pulse-jet would fly it, but you'd better send it on a one way journey, with the noise it will make. I've heard a dynajet once, and it seemed much louder from 150' away than an airliner on take-off roll is from 100 yd away. If you over-fly a grouchy neighbour's house, I wouldn't want to be you!

The buzz bomb you see with the canopy was probably a test plane flown by the famous female German pilot Hanna Reitsch.

Apparently they were have stability or control issues with the V1 prototypes, and the only way to figure them out was to strap someone’s butt to one and get a flight report.

Originally there was a rumor that these things were going to be suicide weapons, with a poor pilot rocketing into his target.

One time she demo'ed a prototype Reich helicopter by flying it inside an auditorium.(in the days before the Russians perfected the design)

The practice flight went well, but when it was crammed with people, the engine wouldn't run properly. All the people in the auditorium had decreased the amount of oxygen in the air!

Among other things she tested a bomber that was designed to cut the steel cables that tethered the British barrage balloons. CRAZY!

and if that wasn't enough she tested the 163 rocket intercept fighter. It crashed and her face was split open. She filed the flight report before receiving medical attention and was hospitalised for a few months.

She was decorated by hitler himself with the Iron cross second and first class.

Truly a remarkable woman.

That is so cool! Looks super. Nice job.

I don't think anyone could pay me enough to sit in that cockpit
with the intake overhead like that. No way!! hehe

You could do a profile stovepipe but leave the intake and widest
part to scale. Make stovepipe flat and mount a fan somewhere
along it. That would be very cool.
