Maybe he just meant that he didn't install them since he's getting some from B&E at Bowling Green tomorrow.

In other news... I just got back from putting the maiden flight on my own 83" MXS.
To all who have said it, and told me so... yep... the 3-blade definitely is not the way to go.
Well, at least not the Biela 20x10 3-blade.

That thing is so heavy... it's missing that instant 'oomph' spool-up you need for some manuevers, and
it pretty much just kills some manuevers outright. It's interesting though. Lots of gyroscopic goin on.

The engine seems to be down ~200rpm from what I remember a good 23x8 sounding like.
It still gets around just fine, still hovers, has unlimited vertical, flies fast enough, etc...
...but I will be switching to a light 2-blade prop very soon. Perhaps tomorrow

As for the MXS itself, I couldn't be happier. Maiden was as uneventful as every maiden of an EF plane is.
Very little trim, and no awkward surprises.
Even though mine is probably 1lb+ heavier than Jeff's, it "flew" just fine, floated just fine, landed just fine.

Can't wait to get some more time on it, after swapping that prop.
I let Colton fly it after I maidened it, and he made the best of it, but felt the same... the prop is just a dog.
I have a bit of video of him just messin around with it. I'll post when it finishes uploading.

Did it come with the new cool ultimate style spinner as seen on the videos?

Anyone have any idea where to get something similar? The extra length on the spinners they had looks great.

I don't remember any graphics in mine but maybe I just ignored them because I had no intention of using them. On the elevator I used the 1.75" hole and on the ailerons I used the 1.5 hole. I am gonna tone my ailerons down some as it just rolls insanely fast. Hope to get some more pics/vid at BWG tomorrow.

This is what I bought from Redwing. I am going to paint it to match the red

Thanks. That one looks pretty good.

On another note DA got headers for the 35. It comes in 0, 25mm, or 50mm drops. Anyone know which would be appropriate for the MXS? I believe the header I used on the 78 Extra with OS 33gt was a 25mm drop.

Lucky guys. I'm actually glad I sat this one out. I will want one when the flight reports come in, no doubt.

P.S. I wouldn't paint the cf spinner....looks too cool to paint.

I wonder if the DA35 headers will fit each cylinder of the DA70.

Anyone know?

Give DA a call monday. They probably have headers for the 70 available as well.

I hear ya and starting to think the same as I will be using a Mej 21x8 prop after the break in. Static ground appearance the CF will always win but I was thinking it would look better in flight if red to match the plane.
