On the Bix 2 there I had the NTM 3530 1400kv and an APC 8x6. Was a great setup for my heavy Bix 2.
Lots of good motor prop talk for this bird on the FPVLab thread: http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....Bixler-1-amp-2 |

Apprentice set up
Well, I feel better after looking at your wing
I made a shelf for the FC and another one for the rx when I get to wiring it up. Here are some pics for ideas in case anyone else is looking for solutions....of course it's not flight tested yet. |

Going to add a SportBEC and was going to put it before the current sensor in case it went bad I would still have power. I read though that if the CS go bad the vector is dead anyway? Can anyone confirm because it would be easier for me to wire it after the CS.
Also, to hook up RSSI from a AR8000 I would simply need to run a servo cable with 1 wire from the AR8000 to the top pin of the vector RSSI input. Right?? Is the Signal wire in the bind / data port? (Bottom wire) |

Finally got in the air today with the Vector. Conditions were a bit windy, but it was pleasant enough to begin feeling out the unit.
RTH/Loiter Circle - I have my circle set at 200' and 33% turn rate. Pretty nice settings for the Penguin. The throttle pretty much remains at cruise, and the bank is super lazy - no steep turns and high throttle to keep a tiny circle. RTH worked like a charm. Actually spent most of my time in RTH under the goggles today, as it was the best performing hands off mode, given the winds, where I could just pan/tilt around and check things out. 2DHH wasn't very impressive today, but by the time I began experimenting with it, I had high gusty winds. 3DHH was giving me trouble at first. When initiated, I would get major drift it my ailerons and elevator - basically left roll and dive. Both on ground and in air. Then, after I changed a battery out, and changed a few other settings, it acted fine on the ground, didn't try it in the air. Next time. Hand launches in 2D No Hold went ok. I do really want to try them in 3DHH to see if it makes it easier. Overall, stoked. Can't wait to burn through some more batteries with this new hotness. |

My Penguin only has a few batteries run through it, maidened recently, despite being flight ready since winter - so still putting it through its trials. Eager to compare setup and results here. |

I'm newbie to the taranus and flight control/OSD altogehter, and just got a Vector. Have it all wired up, but cant make it past the first portion of the Rx wizard. It wont recognize my mode switch which I believe I have assigned to SC on channel 5 in input screen. using an x8r, sbus. would you mind sharing your eepe file on your penguins? Thanks for any help so I can join you in the air.

Does anyone know if it is possible to control pan and tilt servos with the two aux outputs from the Vector. I could map these to second aileron and elevator channels for example then map my radio to the same channels but not sure if the Vector will like that and also if it will try and adjust them when in stabilize mode or not...

Thanks - I looked on the monitor and It was not behaving as I expected so that's probably it. I'm not with my gear so cant try it, but I should see it move from -100 to 0 to +100 (using a 3 position switch) correct? if I have more than one switch configured this way, (to different channels) can I just exercise the one I want to use for the RTH switch during the Rx wizard?

I spent a couple of days flying a new 3D plane trimmed and set(parkzone sukhoi), This morning I went for a flight on the wing with the Vector. Sure it took a couple of extra steps to set up but it sure was nice to do some relaxing flying. The next flight was with a glider with EZOSD and I like the bigger fonts of the EZOSD. I'm hopeful we will be able to configure fonts soon.
I'm spoiled now with Loiter, Altitude Hold and RTH. Didn't think I needed it til I started playing with it but the nicest feature for me is the multiple OSD screens. That way I can sight see and then hit the switch to change screens for some simulated 80's Jet flying with all the bells and whistles. So much stuff on the screen. I'm having trouble with the WayPoints and think it's because I set it on Screen 3 and the manual says it needs to be on Screen 1. The way point just sits there on the screen without movement or color change but the distance to waypoint does work. Also having trouble with the logging feature, this worked once on my first flight but haven't been able to get it to work properly since. My latest issue is that I'll do one flight and then go to another field. The data logger put half of the flight in one session and then the other half of the flight in a second session along with the drive to the other field and next flight. I don't travel with my plane plugged in! The settings I've tried are data logging "Always", "Home Acquired". Logging rates tried 10hz, 1hz,5hz Then this mornings flight just had a single GPS point. Anyone else playing with these features yet? |

How do you switch screens in the osd? I've only seen an option to cycle through them every 30 seconds or so.
I've tried a couple of times to look at the logs but never managed to get anything from it so far. No idea what I'm doing wrong, have it set to always log I think. |
