Awesome! But just remember, most people are having success with the U7 420KV, it's the 490KV that is the bugger.

Anyone having experience flying the U8's with Mikrokopters new BLCtrl 3.0 controllers? They feature active breaking (returning the energy to the battery or caps). That should be awesome for keeping those props at the right rpm.

All Esc's never had a sync issue like with the Maytech 65A. But I still had issues with the KDE Test setup is T-Motors U7 420 KV 6S 10,000 The stores product manager kept telling me to try the castle 35A multirotor pack with the U7's, I tried them but knew they would not work right from the start 1. Castle Phoenix Edge lite 75A - 1 minute at 60% throttle 106f, 2 minutes 130f - these act alittle slow in response 2. Castle Phoenix Edge HV 50A - 1 minute at 60% throttle 97f, 2 minutes 109f - these act alittle slow in response 3. KDE UAS 55+ - 1 minute at 60% throttle 114f, 2 minutes 155f - super fast response, seem like best option so far, but I will add fans and maybe bigger heat sinks, too hot for my liking 4. Castle multipack 35A - 1 minute 60% throttle 160f, 2 minutes 213f - right away you can tell the motors are not getting the power they need |

TRY the T-Motor 80A ESC's. T-Motor is saying these are the ONLY ESC's to use to get the best performance and avoid any issues. I know for a fact that behind the scenes over 15 ESC's were tried and after all of that the ONLY recommended ESC's for the U7 490kv motors is the T-Motor 80 AMP.

Sleepy,
There's something wrong with using an 80 amp ESC with a U7. There's going to be a lot of energy dispersed as heat, which means flight times will be decreasing because so much battery energy is being released to atmosphere without getting to the motors. Things don't add up. |

The fact is, the 490 U7 does not work with most ESC's. I personally have tried it with 4 different ESC's and 2 of them the timing was so bad the motors just shuddered and didn't even run. The original ESC's T-Motor sent me were the T-Motor 45Amp ESC's. I was getting 5 minutes out of 12,000 mHa on my 20lb Octo with 15" props with nothing in reserve with the ESC's so hot I could burn my hands. I'm now going to make (2) Uber Quads out of the U7's and Tmotor 80A ESC's. Swinging 18" props with the AUW of the rigs around 14-15lbs. Maybe the U7 will like this configuration. |

conclusion?
have you tested the 80A? is it ok? I have both u7 490kV and U8-135kV... what a pain! U7 have those stupid ESC synch issues and U8 is so unstable to fly! managed to get some kind of stability with pixhawk but them lost the control suddenly (I guess over gain). over the few U8 copter I made, one is flying great with one of my customers. X8 config and 27" props, what is strange is that same config with a second copter did not worked out well! in windy conditions nothing does, seems like U8 are to slow in RPM for the autopilot to keep that stable. or maybe ESC capability... |

Just completed some test flights using U8-170's, 30a Tiger ESC, 28" T-Motor props at an all up weight of ~30lbs. At least one U8 was experiencing sync issues and I agree, the large propellers generate some serious issues with inertia and reaction times in any kind of wind. My thoughts have a superior design and component choice having higher KV motors, smaller props, and more than 4 motors. OTH, it did hover at 50% throttle

I tested today the U7-490 with DYS 40A simonk ESC bought from foxtechfpv. running on 18x6.1 Tmotor and 4S
the motor was running fine on the test bench with receiver throttle directly connected to the ESC. when on the copter through DJI A2 autopilot it was then not working anymore (synch issues). any idea why this is happening? |
