white 4 1/2 foot gliders from WalMart.. conversion?

hey guys, forgive me if this has already been discussed... but I was wanting to make a steerable glider out of my "WALMART foam glider".. It's the big 4 1/2 foot one...
I noticed that the current CG point is right at the trailing end of the wing where it meets the fuse.. If I were to add batteries, servos, and a receiver to the plane, I'm assuming I should keep that CG there?

I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, so you guys that's tried it before, let me know before I start hacking it up!

Also, stop me if this is a waste of time! (not that I'd be all that upset for wasting $5 to build something that ended up just being trash)
But if noone's really had any luck with this, let me know..

I converted one to tow up with a Slow Stick. Since this picture, I've added some ailerons for greater stearing control.

I have my CG mid-wing and it's too far back still. I'm putting in a larger Rx pack to add more weight in the nose.... hopefully closer to 1/3 chord.

Oh... unless you have the "swept wing" version, then I think it does go right at the TE where the wing meets the fuse.

It flies great!

Yeah, mine is the swept-wing... good idea with the tow-plane.. I may keep that in mind! Get my buddy to carry me up! Well, maybe I'll carry him up, since my SS has a lot more power than his!

I found several threads on here about converting these planes. Seems alot of people are mounting motors to them too.. I'm having a hard time deciding which direction to go with it right now!

I like that pattern on the wing of the SS.. Simple yet beautiful! Is that paint or covering?

Check this out

If you go here you'll find of one the first foam glide conversions
At this site it converts to either a flying wing or a cool poly wing pusher.

Here in the zone one of the easiest conversions I've seen is here:

It's Krylon shorts paint. I always paint my Slow Sticks. That was my first SS.... I'm on #3 now

Dang, wouldn't let me edit and add a pic... here's SS #2, again Krylon shorts on homemade floats.
