Build Log

TBRB550 (The Big Red Beast) - 3D printed custom FPV Quadrotor

Hey everybody,

I've been working on this bad boy for a while now. Figured I would put together a build log to share with you, and to help keep things moving a long. (I lose motivation sometimes...)

The red portions of the body are ABS, 3D printed on a MakerGear M2. The arms are .5" carbon fiber tubes. (Wish I would have gone a little wider. It's difficult to fit the motor wire connectors through.)

Notice the different landing gear configurations. I didn't intend to design it that way but it worked out!

Update - 5/20/14

Build log update.

I didn't get to work on it much yesterday. Not enough time in a day...

Here's what I did get done.
  • Calibrated ESC
  • Verified motor rotation
  • Replaced motor connectors with wire to wire solder. (not happy about it, but the wires fit through the arm tubes now)

Update - 5/22/14

Build log update.

Here's what I got done.
  • Routed motor/ESC wires through the carbon fiber tubes.
  • Completed soldering all the motor connections.
  • Tidied up the wiring.
  • Calibrated ESC again... OCD I guess.
  • Started to add additional pieces for mock up/fitment testing.

9V Battery placed for scale
