So I ordered a few D2826-6 2200Kv motors and a 40 amp speed control, I have a few TP 2250 mah 3s packs I use in my 3D aircraft, but in keeping with the 2000 mah limit, I am planning to purchase a few Turnigy Nano Tech 2200 mah packs to try out. but while I was looking at some of that stuff I came across a few other airframes that may work if guys want to try this out without spending a lot.

The mini stick may be a little small but would be an option I think... maybe Jeff or Heath can comment on these... one of the other more expensive ones I am considering is this

seen a few old youtube videos of it flying on 3s set ups with slightly more powerful motors than what we plan and it looked stable and fast... with a 2200Kv motor and 5x5 APC prop I think this may be around the 100mph mark... I figure its wing area is about 220 square inches... so since we are not setting a limit on wing area I may order this to at least give it a try.... This may be able to keep up with Jeff's custom built ones if you can keep the weight in check.

If the Flash does not fly like I want I may be cutting my own wing and building a simple fuse like I did last time.

Just to clarify 2200mah is the smallest pack you can use. A larger pack is just going to add weight and give you extra flight time you don't need so its not an advantage but if you want to use one feel free.

So any three cell lipo pack 2200mah or larger is fine.

I would get the mini-pulse, it looks like a good fit for the motor/battery and the other one has flaps that you don't need.

I was also looking at:
I think its the right size but it is a kit so the build time is greater.

I am going to build a Tinny Trainer, that I linked a few posts back, first as I can build the air frame for about $4 and its a quick build. Not sure it will keep up with a $200+ glass bird but I do know it will go 80+ mph.

The Aeroworks Stingray is what I will be using. It's on sale right now for $101 + shipping.
I plan to also use the same motor, ESC, battery and prop as Heath listed above.

This looks like a nice pylon racer.

That does look fast but it would not meet the class requirements as it uses a four cell pack and a different motor.

Proposed rules are:
All aircraft must:
1. Use this motor
D2826-6 2200kv Outrunner

2. All batteries must be three cell lipos with 2200mah or greater capacity

3. Must be in a tractor configuration for easy launching. No pusher wings.

Ok, I should be set for pylon racing. I ordered this plane :

I also purchased the D2826 2200kv motor to switch out the motor it comes with to meet the specs. I think it comes with a 2836 2300kv motor.

What nights and what time are the pylon races?
Apr 02, 2016, 02:21 PM
The schedule has not been set yet.

It depends on who wants to fly and when they can fly. Tuesday night after combat was suggested so that would be about 6:30pm to 7:00pm for a start time. Depends on how fast we fly the combat rounds and if we start combat at 5:30 sharp. If we have enough light that may work as half the people I know about who are interested are flying combat Tuesday already.

Monday night was also suggested, but I know that was also suggested as a bring your trainer/intro flight night. But we have not advertised that, or have people signed up to instruct or learn at that time. So trainer night could be Wed or Thurs, just as well as Monday at this point.

Maybe people who want to fly could post their preferred day and time?

Only week nights I am free are Monday and Tuesdays ... then every other weekend.. so would not mind Monday's if Tuesday does not work. I think we could train and pylon race on Monday's if needed.
