Phoenix 60: Can it handle more than 20 cells?
Castle - A phoenix 60 is rated 5-20cells without BEC. Can it handle 22 or 24 cells or is 20 the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM number of cells that can be run on it? I have heard of people running more than 20 cell successfully on it but would like Patrick to comment on what the result of doing so might be.
Thanks, Brendin |

Here is a recent comment by Patrick on this .
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...hreadid=215093 Over voltage is more of a killer than over amps. I am waiting eagerly for HV controller also. Good luck! Larry |

Personally I would not take it over 20 cells. NiCd or NiMH packs can be just shy of 1.5V per cell right off the charger. 20 cells gets you really close to that 30V limit, and I bet that given the right conditions (A good pack hot off the charger) that 21 cells could get you over that 30V limit.

20 cells MAXIMUM.
The 30V limit is the maximum STANDOFF voltage. The maximum OPERATIONAL voltage is 27V. Patrick |
