Hi

I have just received 2x Avatar F3B models from Jiri Tuma - designed by Gunther Aichholzer.

This model is of high aspect ratio in the modern style - al la the dopamin, fosa etc.

Span - 3150mm
Area - 55dm2
Tail Area - 5.1dm2

I think aspect ratio is 17.1. I haven't got a definite on that.

Some interesting features:

1.75kg ballast


3 in each side of the joiner and 2 wing ballast tubes.

The tips have quite an aggressive taper:




The model has no fixed sections on the tail or wings and the entire trailing edges move.

Weights:

Wings 623g (629 model b)
Tails: 33.5g
joiner: 105g
fuselage 289g
Total approx - 1710g.

I don't think the model will require a lot of nose weight judging by a quick finger balance test.

Layup is double carbon in the wings. Don't know about the tails, but they are carbon.

Looks very nice Tom. Good shape, decent tail area. I like the higher aspect ratio. LDS is tough on the servos, but is probably the best system in use currently. If the section is good I'm sure it will go very well, and Jiri has been putting top class models together for many years. Gets a big thumbs up from me.

Based on the span and area, AR=18. About the same as the Fosa Lift and a little less than the Fosa.

Same builder as the Extasy, right?
Love the build quality of the Extasy, looks like the same style of build. Light in all the right places and nice details, like some silicone inside the nose cone, that "grips" the sub nose.
Looks like a launching machine!

Yes same builder and designer as the Extasy.

The wings feel very stiff.

The wing and tail fillets are a nice touch ditto the bee sting; there's no cover to worry about, is it possible to just clear tape over the cavity ?

You could. It does come with a cover though - there is a slight recess.
