April 19, 2014 Spring Maintenance

We met today to pull some weeds, roll the runway to smooth it out, and lay gravel in the pilot's stations. This was our yearly spring maintenance work party.

What started as a clear day with calm winds became increasingly cloudy, though we avoided any rain and the winds remained light even after noon.

Helping improve field conditions were 19 members (perhaps a new record?) and 14 guests (definitely a record!) including Jack, Art, Ross, Daren, Caleb, DeWayne (with 11 related guests), Pat, Randy, RayG, John, RayG2 (with Wyatt), Jerry, Tom, Jake (with Melissa), RayM, Juan (with Damon), Mark, Ruben and Marc.

While our primary task today was pulling weeds and moving rock, we also took advantage of the fine flying conditions and even had two maidens.

All members provided useful labor today but special thanks goes to RayM for arranging the rock delivery, Art for pulling the roller with his tractor, RayG for pushing dirt with his quad, Ross for organization, and Jake and Melissa for proving donuts and coffee.

Full Scale

There were a few full scale planes taking advantage of the weather today too.

The second maintenance day

We met again on Saturday, April 26, 2014 to complete work on the pilot's stations.

Eight members (who are still cleaning dirt from their ears because of the high winds) came out to provide labor including Juan, RayM, Ross, RayG, Jack, Art, DeWayne and Marc.

Special thanks to RayG (for hauling 3 loads of rock and for bringing his very useful compactor) and Juan (for procuring the fencing material).

The pilot's stations are beautiful and should give us many seasons of service.

Marc
