I believe I have docs old yak. I bought it from another dude that lived in that area. It has the cowling mod and it says Doc Austin in the side of the canopy. It’s done it’s second day with me today and the strangest thing happened. I’m starting to get comfortable with it when during mid flight it starts to bank right on it own. I immediately bring it back for a landing and found that the right servo decided to find itself a new center with the aileron up. I readjusted the sub trim and a few flights later it did I it again? Any ideas?

I'de send it in to Hitec for service. They usually won't charge you unless you need gears.

That Yak was such a great airplane. I'm glad it's got a good home!

I’ll start with that, I was wondering if this might be the same yak you reviewed a few years ago or have you built multiple yaks?

I built two. I destroyed my first one, so you probably have my second one. You can tell for sure if you find a patch on the covering just in front of the stab on the left side.

As far as the servo, Hitec has a great service department and they will take care of you.

Haven’t got to trouble shooting yet but could the receiver be at fault?

It’s the same problem I haven’t trouble shooter yet. Mid flight the right aileron decided to move up about a quarter inch for its new center. Upon landing I immediately inspected the servo installment, the rod and the horn and all looked good. I was wondering if it could be a receiver issue instead of a servo problem.

I fly, therefore, I crash!!!

More than likely. But, the easy way to find out is to swap the servos and try another flight and see if the problem follows the servo. Or of course replace the servo.

Does it have the EF aluminum arms on it? If it has plastic arms it could have slipped a spline on the servo arm. I had that happen a few times on the Dubro HD arms. I have never had that happen on the EF arms.

Flew the yak today before I went out I re tighten the top bolt holding the arm to the servo. If flew well today without any centering issues. Yes it is the Dubro arms. Dumb question do you guys use locktite on the top servo bolt?

Not on a plastic arm. Most thread lockers eat plastic or make it brittle. I never use plastic arms.

I do if it is a metal gear servo and then I use light duty thread lock. Light duty is usually purple, it sort of gums up the threads whereas blue can sometimes get really tight and tough to get back out. I have used blue thread lock many times though, however if you use blue then I would highly recommend an allen head servo arm bolt.
