Great Planes Citabria 30cc ARF - 85" Wingspan

I just got home from this year's Toledo RC Show (www.toledoshow.com). Of all the wonderful new things I saw there, the new Great Planes Citabria was the most exciting for me. It is pure WOW!

They have it on their website now too. Gas, glow or electric. I have a Super Tigre 3000 that I'm wondering if it would work. I need to do a little research on that.

Here's GP's web page on the Citabria: http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1435.html

Nothing like a good WOODIE!

Looks more like a Decathlon with flaps based off of the Dynaflite kit. From my understanding the Citabria is a base model and does not have a symmetrical wing like the Decathlon.

When I first saw pics of this online I wanted one but now that I see its just a takeoff of a Decathlon I'll most likely pass on it. Mind you noting against Great Planes, they make a great product, just hoping it was going to be a Clark Y type of airfoil since I am mainly an Aerotow person and not concerned with aerobatics,

Those are good pics. The flaps are just the icing on the cake. I want one.

Yep. "Late July" delivery according to Tower Hobbies.

Do you think $450 is a lot or a little? The quality sure seemed to be there.

It would be an interesting comp to the RCGuys Decathlon... that one being a 98" span. I've seen a few of these at our club. They've been on the market for a while too... There was a reference to an ST3000 on that site at one point... I've been interested in the RCGuys plane for a few years now... bucket list plane.. haha.. but its probably a good comp for you at any rate. I'm a fan of all Citabria/Decathlon based planes. Lets see what experience others have with these planes... I've got a cool G-38 for something like this...

Heres a link for the RCGuys plane.... Thanks for the tip.

I'd buy this one over the rcguys based on my previous rcguys. It was an early one, but the cowl fit and covering was not up to par

The RC Guys Citabria was there too. The display version looked nice. Bigger, but not quite as detailed. Still, impressive.

Wow! You beat me to it.

I'm still amassing my fortune (hobby stash) to make that purchase a reality.

Please alert us all when they tell you they are in stock. Hopefully by then, I can scratch that itch!

Everything I'm seeing is calling for a "July" release date.

Are you better off to get one of the first ARF's, or wait for later when they have the bugs worked out?

I always shoot the dice and order. Like Forrest Gump says... It's like a box of chocolates you never know what you get!
