Build Log

Lockey's Little Fokker

Thought I would have a change and play with something “Quick and Easy” to build … AND hopefully will fly real good … and real slow

So a new park flier on the drawing board … Lockey’s Little Fokker

It’s a Fokker Eindecker E3 lookalike … 1300 wing span all Depron (about a sheet and a half) with rolled under-camber wing, I am not sure how she will fly with the under-camber wing but we will see

Any ideas / comments ?

Lockey

EDIT

Little Fokker

1300 mm Wing Span
Length 940 mm
All up weight with 2800 battery approx. 1100 grams

2 sheets 6 mm Depron
˝ sheet 3 mm Depron
Small quantity 2 mm Ply
Small quantity 0.8 mm Ply
1 x length 5.5 mm Brass Tube (approx. 200mm long)
1 x length 4 mm Brass Tube (approx. 300 mm long)
2 x threaded pushrods (for undercarriage)
1 x length 3 mm piano wire (approx. 400 mm long)
2 x length 3 mm piano wire (approx. 200 mm long)

I used

ZIPPY Flightmax 2800mAh 4S1P 30C … http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...mAh%204S1P%203

Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor … http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...8%20%20Brushle

APC style IC Sport propeller 11x6 … http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0propeller%201

TURNIGY Plush 40amp Speed Controller … http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...040amp%20Speed

4 x HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo … http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...g%20/%20.12sec

Anyone downloading the plans ... If you have a look at sheet 3, you will see a line that shouldn't be there ... don't know where it came from (ignore it .. see pic)

Should be really nice if you use plenty of aileron differential with those under-cambered wings to make it behave itself in the adverse-yaw department.
That and, put every item of equipment as far forward as human ingenuity can devise, and apply equal genius to keeping the tail-end light.
I'm looking forward to seeing the result.

Thanks Whiskers, This is my biggest problem (I think) getting enough weight forward and keeping the tail as light as possible

I was hoping to use one of the motors I have here ... something like this one http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=12920 ... but I don't know if there will be enough weight in this

Apologies , I cheated and added an inch to the nose ... also increased the area of the tail surfaces ... Just an RET sport plane ...

Looks like a great idea. I suggest cheating a bit on nose length to make balance easier. A little longer will still look fine.

Ah. Beat me to it!

Thanks gpw, I have already enlarged the tail areas a little

Hi Nigel, great minds think alike eh

I will look at maybe adding a bit to the front and or shortening the back a bit too !!! ...... mmmmmm moving the wing back a bit would do both at once eh

Sneaking the wing back sounds like a great idea, and with 200W up front it will have plenty of boogie.

Looks nice! When do you want to come up and fly? A weekday would be good. In the afternoon as well (less wind) Would love to see your tiger moth.

I have changed the thread to a "Build Log" and have had the initial plans printed ready to start the build

I will post pics when I start building ... as I thought, it takes just over one and a half sheets of Depron and a couple of bits of 2 or 3 mm Ply

As usual, plans are on Depron size sheets (1000 x 700)
