FPV=controlled in REAL TIME by the pilot 99% of the time.

UAV=AUTONOMOUSLY CONTROLLED by the autopilot 99% of the time.

That is a very big distinction. As in category-defining big distinction.

FPV should not be in the UA section they have one of there own already. If you go down that line multirotors should be in here as well.

The connotation of drone is closer to FPV. Perhaps that forum could be renamed.

Say no to the use of "drone"

No to the use of the word drone in the title.

I have kept bees. Drones were the slackers, who have a very short period of usefulness in a hive.

UAVs have utility every time they fly.

Too much negative connotation.

I vote "NO!" also.
The public reacts to "drone" the same way they do to "assault weapon" when a semi-automatic firearm is described. Why add the negative energy?

Exactly, and to the point!

The thing is; people don't normally react negatively to words/objects like "car", "gun", "kitchen-knife", "sofa", "sugar", "beer", "hamburgers", etc. even if those things are the things that normally kills them.

Same people might react with discust to words like "drones", "assult weapons", "killer-bees", and so on, even if they never saw one or known anyone who did.

Hmm

The media is going to get it wrong regardless. Maybe having drone in the title may lead them to read some of the threads here and *cough* get educated.

I vote no.

I would consider distancing myself from the forum as to not be included in the negativity the word "Drone" is associated with.
