Altivolus - Another Synergy ship in the making :)

A couple of years ago Andreas and I started making DLG planes. First came the Natrix and then the A2. Finally it was time to take the next step in making high quality DLG planes. From the A2 we made the Altivolus.

We have been working for a while with the Altivolus now and very soon the maiden will be done with the first prototype planes eager beaver, ohhh yes!

Root chord is 165 mm and the fuselage has been thinned out quit a bit.

Wing and tail feathers will be core in mold (prototype wings have been bagged)
Wing airfoil is synergy

Here are some pics of the plane and design for your enjoyment

We do most updates in the facebook group.

Very nice. I'm also curious about the machine. What is the design? And what spindle are you using? And what material are you using for the mold surfaces?

Hi guys. Thanks for the kind words.

*The router is a homemade router that I built from scratch last winter. It works great but I have planned some upgrades to work out some querks.

*The spindle used now is a 500 Kress spindle. However I'm about to change to a 2.2 kW china spindle so that I can control it from MACH3.

*The material for the molds are corian or similar material (competing brand). We got some scrap pieces from the local carpentry shop.

*I will post the link to the Facebook group lat this evening.

More to come
