Pics Of My New GWS 109 + First Time With An Airbrush

Hi all,
This is my first attempt at airbrushing with the new Paasche VL airbrush, so take it easy on me.
I'm waiting on a motor and pilot and it should be ready to go soon. As far as airbrushing goes.. I'm hooked! It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience.

If you can use a spray can, you can use an airbrush. I was suprised how easy it was to get decent results.

Great job on the plane, BTW.

Thanks for the all too kind words.
You're right sarge. Painting with the airbrush wasn't as bad as I had it all cracked up to be. I practiced with it for a while just painting lines on a sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper and then just getting an even coverage. I love the way that you can control the paint with it. You can mist it out of the brush soo thin that it just barely dusts paint on the model. You can also spray it in a wide pattern that covers pretty quickly. I made multiple thin coats until I got good coverage but still kept the weight down. It works really well on canopies too by masking the whole thing off and then shooting it as well. Trouble now is.. I want to paint everything!

I bought a air brush 6 years ago and was trying to use it for another purpose that didn't work out, I got it back out and Painted my first plane a TM with it, also made my own nose cone with a plastic water bottle,20 ounce size, unlike the plasic cups it doesn't srink up and is more pliable when its done.

Nice job on the Tiger Moth Steve. I'll definitely be doing more painting with my brush.
Flyfastnlow, I took a chance and used the blue masking tape between the colors on the fuselage. I taped the edge of newspaper leaving about 1/8" of tape on the edge. It turns out that the paint that I used seemed to really bond well to the fuselage and didn't pull up after removing the tape. I didn't use much pressure to press it on and didn't allow it to sit very long after painting.

Airbrush

I just got my first airbrush also. I can tell already I need a compresor though! Went through 1 can already and didn't even finish my plane. Now I have two airbrushes because the only air I could find local was in a testors airbrush kit..LOL It's the cheap $10 one though..

Nice job guys!!
