Flair BF-110 maiden video

My dad test flew his Flair BF-110 today, I used my still camera to video it. It's still unpainted and has several details to sort out but it flew great, he was very impressed. Power is what he already had laying around, Jeti 15-4s turning graupner 8X6 three bladed props, 2S4P LiPo. AUW is 75oz, it'll probably be close to 80 when detailed.

Video: (edit, this is a later video not the maiden which was deleted)

I'll be doing the detailing but knowing my dad he'll want to fly it for a while the way it is (he really frustrates me sometimes). He said he wanted "desert orange" which I believe is the mustard color like yours. In fact, yours looks so good I'll probably just copy it

I've seen your post before and always admired it, fantastic job. I'll be sure to post the result when it happens.

Ed,

Another great job by your dad. Tell to paint the darn thing though.

Going to be at the field Friday? Time for a little bomber action and I'll leave the jets at home.

Hi Steve, unfortunately this is my "On" Friday. Next week I have Friday and Monday off so maybe then. It's been a while since the B-24 has been up, need to blow the dust off the wings. I'll keep in touch.

P.S. watch for a Lancaster thread soon I finally got some time to start building again.

Thanks Ed. Got it. The weather looks better for next week anyway. I'll watch that thread!

I have the same Flair Me 110. It uses two car motors with Olympus belt drives. I also installed retracts and functioning rudders. I am very impressed with the planes handling qualities and the roar of the motors as a low strafing run commences. I'll try to send some pictures. Good Luck and nice build.

Glen, what rudder set-up and retracts did you use? I'm building a Lancaster with mechanical retracts and plan to use a strip aileron type set-up for the rudder. For the B-24 I used Gold-N-Cable in sort of a "U" shape with the servo at the bottom of the "U". It works OK except it does have a little slop. But at least they return to center and the B-24 isn't fast enough to flutter them. The BF-110 is pretty fast tho. If you have any photos that would be great. Here is a short video of my B-24 rudder using the cable method:

I like your solution for the rudder control on the B-24.
I built the 110 (about 5 years ago) using the stock horizontal stabilizer which is as you know a solid slab of wood. Using a dremel tool I carved two smoothly curved channels for the Golden rods to sit into. The servos for both rudder and elevator are located behind the wing. It is not the greatest setup and does have some play, but to this point has not exhibited any signs of flutter and does allow for adequate ground control on takeoffs. I also used mechanical retracts, I believe the company that makes them is called EZ(or something like that). They have been very durable despite some heavy landings.
Hope this helps![IMG][/IMG]

Thanks. If I get the strip aileron type control to work I'll post some info.

Very nice looking BF (ME what ever ) by the way.

I can't view the footage, but it looks cool on the deck. You ought to do the "Bee" nose version.
