Start of the landing gear and sub wing. Sub wing is built with the same technique as the main wing.

Nice, Guy. Certainly something different! A good sized model, too.

Nice to see you back building, Guy. But why such an ugly plane? And only one wing?

Hi Martin

Because I wanted to use foam core and be scale.

It's not nice to be mean to other peoples airplanes

At least it is WWI my other stalled project is a Yak 9D

My son Alex wanted a demonstration of the building technique to be used on a 1/6 Scale Ki-61 Hein.

Guy,

Where did you find the plans, or did you derive them from scanning parts of the 1/48 plastic kit?

I found the instructions for the Omega Models Resin kit online which has three views of the real plane included. These drawings were traced in TurboCad and corrected so that all views matched each other. Then using my knowledge of Fokker construction and bits of Fokker D VII three views I filled in the the missing information. After the the three view was corrected I designed the model.

Guy,
Great choice of aircraft. I love obscure airplanes myself and am always looking for unusual subjects. I was looking for something simple to build with equipment I had on hand, and just recently narrowed it down to the V-23 also.
The hardest part was finding specs on the V-23. The Omega Models resin kit was my launching point for starting on a 1/7 scale V-23. I plan on using 3mm and 6mm Depron, with a bit of balsa and ply. 50" wingspan, 43 1/2" length. Emax CF2822 motor, 9x4.3 sf prop, 3S-2000mah lipo.

A question that I had from looking at your photos is, did you scratch build the wheels or did you purchase them? They look lightweight compared to a Williams Bros. type WW I wheel. If scratch built, could you please describe how they were constructed?
Thank, Brad

The wheels are scratch built and I will try to put together a little how to shortly.
