Anyone running a bigger motor, something along the lines of the Power Up 480 Speed? http://headsuphobby.com/Power-Up-480...otor-E-690.htm

I'm thinking of buying that for the Mustang, would it balance out and can the foam handle it?

Old Fogey times 1.22 w/modifications

I've got an Old Fogey that actually flies quite well. It is 1.22 times the original size.

Flite Test - Old Fogey, enlarged 1.22 times and modified (1 min 23 sec)

Published on May 4, 2016

This design is based on the Flite Test Scratch Build Old Fogey (http://flitetest.com/articles/FT_Old_...) downloadable plans from the their site and has been enlarged 1.22 times. This version of the FT Old Fogey has been modified in many ways to make it fly much, much better. This version is very suitable as a primary trainer. It was completely soloed by a novice pilot, Norm, for two flights on May 3, 2016.

Like the original FliteTest Old Fogey, it is constructed from Dollar Tree Foam Board (DTFB).

Modifications:
Size increased 1.22 times
Vertical Stabilizer and Rudder assembly increased 1.2 times more
The new, enlarged rudder area was cut down and reshaped to yield about 1/3 the ‘new’ rudder area
Wing tip angle was reduced to 9.5 degrees for each wing tip panel
Center of gravity (CG) was moved considerably forward, 1-1/4” from the recommended position (That would be 1” further forward on the original version.)
Flyzone Sensei main landing gear with 2.5” foam wheels used
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/...

Results of the modifications:
No Dutch roll, self-rights when the transmitter stick is allowed to go to neutral, is not always flying ‘near’ the stall

Power System:
Motor: Cobra C-2217/20 Brushless Motor, Kv=960
http://innov8tivedesigns.com/parts/br...
Electronic Speed Control: Castle Creations Thunderbird 36 (way overkill, but I had it)
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/...
Prop: APC 11x5.5E
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/...
Battery: various 3S 1000mAh LiPo packs with Anderson Power Pole connectors

Transmitter: Tactic TTX650 6-Channel SLT Computer Transmitter
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/...
Receiver: Tactic TR625 6-Channel SLT Receiver Twin Antennas
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/...
Two twelve gram servos (I used Hitec HS-65 servos because I had them. For the second version I’ll use Emax 12g servos from Heads Up Hobby (http://www.headsuphobby.com/Emax-12g-...)
Control throws are set to an absolute minimum; servo horn - inner most hole, control horn - outer most hole

Airframe Details:
Flying weight, varies slightly depending on the specific 3S 1000mAh battery used: ~24 oz.
Plan form wing span: ~ 47”
Wing span, tip to tip for angled tips: 46-5/8”
Effective wing area: 554 sq.in.
Wing area loading: 5.2 oz./sq.ft.
Wing Cube Loading Factor: 2.65

Flight Time: For training purposes, 7 minutes

Has anyone build the foam version of the Lanzo Bomber ?

http://flitetest.com/articles/foam-b...8-lanzo-bomber

I want to make a 2m one and i would like to know the worst case scenario for the weight and what motor will i need.

Do these seem OK for a 2m foam plane which one would you prefer?

If you have something else to recommend please do so, but plz bear in mind that i would prefer motor and esc with connectors pre-soldered as my soldering skills are poor.

Thanks

The mini Arrow is faster, but I really like the FT Vector, such a fun plane to fly. I still lack a 6" prop (5030 at the moment) for my 2204 motor.

After looking at your seaduck maiden video (nice btw), I just noticed that I started a baby sr71 build yesterday because of one of your other video .
