Found some cracks developing on my waterproof case around screws. Emailed foxoffer a picture and they didn't even hesitate to send me out a new case. Pretty good customer service. Only problem is it's half way around the world. Oh well. At least they replaced it.
Hope it's genuine... came from FoxOffer (eventually).

Well it's genuine then. I really do believe it's your photographic eye. My cousin is a photographer and constantly points out stuff to me that is not evident to my untrained eye. Have u ever evaluated a gopro to see how much of a difference $2-300 makes? Your comparison would be more in depth and based from photographic knowledge and experience.

SJ4000 PC Control

Just got my SJ400 this week (WiFi Version) and wanted to figure out how to control it myself without using their app.

If I get time I wanted to knock together a simple app for the Sony Smartwatch so I can start and stop recording.

Anyway I just thought I'd post my findings so far in case they are of help to someone.

First, you will need a device with Wireless (Obviosuly). Put your SJ4000 into WiFi mode and then connect to it from your PC.

Your PC will now get an IP Address from the camera and the camera itself will have an address of 192.168.1.254

If you browse to 192.168.1.254 in a web browser you can access the file system and copy the movies from the SD card onto your PC.

To view a live stream from the camera you will need VLC Player. Launch VLC player and from the Media menu select open Network stream. in the URL box type: rtsp://192.168.1.254/sjcam.mov and then click Play. You will now see the video being streamed into VLC.

Next up are the caemra controls. These are a little more tricky and I haven't investigated them all fully yet but here goes. To run any of these commands just enter them into a web browser:

To start the camera recording: http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2001&par=1

To stop the camera recording: http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2001&par=0

To list all the current settings on the camera: http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=3014

The above will give you all the settings in an XML format. The simple ones will be 0 for off and 1 for on. Some settings like resolution can have multiple options like 1,2,3,4,5 for the different menu items. This would need to be documented fully by looking in the android app and listing all the values.

To change a setting just do: http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd={CommandHere}&par={OptionHere}

I think the options will be as follows but I have not tested all of them:

<Cmd>2002</Cmd> Resolution
<Cmd>2003</Cmd> Cyclic Record
<Cmd>2004</Cmd> WDR
<Cmd>2006</Cmd> Motion Detection
<Cmd>2007</Cmd> Audio
<Cmd>2008</Cmd> Date Stamp
<Cmd>2010</Cmd> Live View Size
<Cmd>1004</Cmd> Capture Mode
<Cmd>1002</Cmd> Image Size
<Cmd>1005</Cmd> Quality
<Cmd>1006</Cmd> Sharpness
<Cmd>1007</Cmd> White Balance
<Cmd>1008</Cmd> Color
<Cmd>1009</Cmd> ISO
<Cmd>2005</Cmd> Exposure
<Cmd>1011</Cmd> Anti Shake
<Cmd>3025</Cmd> Frequency
<Cmd>3026</Cmd> Rotate
<Cmd>3011</Cmd> Reset to Defaults
<Cmd>3010</Cmd> Format
<Cmd>3007</Cmd> Auto Power Off
<Cmd>3003</Cmd> WiFiName
<Cmd>3004</Cmd> Password
<Cmd>3008</Cmd> DV Language

So for example to turn on the Date Stamping you would do:

http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2008&par=1

These settings don't seem to take effect until you either start recording, or you turn the camera on/off. I assume there is a command to force the camera to re-read the settings but I have not found it yet.

There is also some commands to switch to photo mode/time lapse but I got bored before finding them :P

If anyone else want to try and find anymore information. Use a rooted Android device running Shark for root. Start this runing and then connect to the SJcam and perform whatever actions you want. Then look at the capture file on a PC using Wireshark and you will see all the http get commands that the application is issuing to the camera.

Hope this helps someone do something :P

Matt.

First firmware upgrade for SJ4000 wifi

I'm also part of the Dash CamTalk forum and noticed this post and thought I would share

As the biggest international business partner of the original SJ4000 / SJCAM camera manufacturer, we have now acquire the first firmware update for the recently released hot action camera SJCAM WiFi camcorder. It fixed some bugs and enhanced the camera performance. We suggest that you upgrade your SJCAM WiFi camera with this firmware. The firmware version is W20140915V02.

Here's the link

Has anyone tried this version?

Price is too low. So it's probably fake.

I can't afford more than 70 dollars for a camera. I don't know should I take the risk or not?

Sj5000,can you confirm for sure? If in one month,I might as well delay my order of the SJ4000 and wait for the next one. A7+ chip is really doubtful .
