Free Browser based RC Flight Simulator in development

I have very recently created a free web browser based RC flight simulator for Chrome and Firefox at http://ronsrcsim.com. I have 2 decent planes built for the sim so far (3D and a glider), and I am still tweaking the physics engine to improve the realism. I am targeting the sim at the foam scratch built community (which is what I like to fly), and I could use some help finding out which controllers work for people. I have tested a Logitech USB dual axis and a PS3 controller on Linux, but not windows. I am going to order a USB simulator interface cable for my spectrum radio to try out as well. If there is anyone out there who would try it out with their controller, I would appreciate it.
Also I would really like to hear what you think about it and ways that I could improve it.

It runs under Chrome & win 7 64 bit - no frame rate problems at all (on a pretty decent PC, though a few years old). It detects my USB Xbox 360 controller and the assignments are correct for Mode 2. However, it doesn't seem to detect my MileHighWings USB interface.

The graphics and physics still need a lot of work... but great that you've got things working to this level.

This ones going to be harsh but I think you need to hear it.

If you are creating this sim is it for training or testing a model design? If either using a D-Pad is not a good measure or metric for either. When you go to the field you don't fly with a d-pad.

Since it's browser based and java you could tie in PPJoy, you know the software that allows PPM input via the mic port on a pc. I'm sure you could write an interface for that in java to get an actual controller to work.

It works with the analogue controls on an XBox360 controller (and presumably the gamepads mentioned), so it's not limited to d-pad control.

Hi Thanks everyone for your input!
The goal for this simulation is to make a tool that allows people to build their own aircraft easily (scratch build community) to see if it has any chance of flying. I will be making an aircraft editor as soon as the physics engine gets a bit better. Also I want it to be fun so that it will encourage people to get into RC.
The simulation is using javascript, not java, so I don't think that I will be able to use PPJoy, but I have ordered a USB simulator interface cable from HobbyKing so that I will be able to use my Spectrum Radio, I will let you know how it works once I get it. The physics engine will definitely take a lot more work to get better. I have been experimenting with many different changes, and I am currently working on an algorithm to break the model up into more polygons. The simulation rely's on air forces against polygons and is very sensitive to angular velocities, a higher polygon count will help to improve the calculations. There is also a small bug in the rotation calculations of the control surfaces when the plan is at certain angles that I am trying to resolve.
This weekend I added a few new aircraft including an FT-22 from FliteTest which flies pretty well, also did a bunch of tweaks to the physics engine as the new aircraft helped me to find issues with the engine. The gliders still fly poorly.
Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to try it out!

Improved Physics Engine

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know that I solved a major instability problem in my physics engine, and the newest version is ready to try at http://RonsRCSim.com.

RonsRCSim Latest Features

Hi,
I just wanted to update people on the status of my free web based flight simulator.
It now has the following aircraft:
FT-3D, FT-VersaWing, FT-22 and FT-Viggin, Knuckle H-Quad (based on models by FliteTest.com)
T-Rex 450 Helicopter.
2 Channel glider, and a 3 channel glider (but no thermals yet, so you just hit the drop button to fly it from 300m).

Support for Oculus VR goggles.
Will work on Android Tablets (Tested on Nexus 7).

Since this is a free game I have google ads to try to make back a few dollars for all the time I have put into it and to support further development. If you have any suggestions for improvements or new planes, please click on an ad and leave me a comment.

Thanks for trying it out!

FT-Racer added to RonsRCSim

Just added an FT-Racer to the Simulator today... It fly's nice! Try it out if you have a usb xbox or logitech controller.
