what do you think - can i use a 9 cell pack of 4/5AA nimh that will give me a 10.8V with a standart 6V 400 motor ?

im flying it with 8 cells now and thinking to add a cell to the pack.

As long as you adjust your prop size (down) so that your amp/watts draw doesn't exceed the motor's capability you should be okay.
