Unlimited TD Contest - Sept 20 & 21 2014 - LI, NY

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Long Island Silent Flyers (www.lisf.org) is proud to host two Eastern Soaring League Unlimited Sailplane TD contests on Sept 20 and 21 2014 on Long Island, NY.

Click http://www.flyesl.org/Contest.aspx?contestid=165 to register.

Anything that can be launched from the winch is welcome.

Experts and Sportsman classes

Novice pilots are welcome and fly free, so if you are new to contest flying but are comfortable being in the air with other pilots you will be welcome. We have plenty of landing area away from the tapes if you are not yet accomplished in the landing circle. If you are not comfortable launching from a winch, we will help you and are happy to launch your glider for you.

Anything???? Are you sure you want to write it that way? It's a great straight line! Possibilities: kites, ff models, Kadet Mk II's* and transmitters** I can think of launchable stuff even further in left field, but I think my reputation as an eccentric doesn't need to get any more off center. And I might finally mix one too many metaphors. BOOM!

*I've seen one stay up in a thermal for 3 minutes from much lower
**I've seen tx's launched, though they tend not to go very far.

OK, last update before the contest.

27 pilots registered and room for plenty more

Weather for Saturday and Sunday looks spectacular

Sunny, 73 on Saturday and Partly Cloudy, 80 on Sunday. No rain in the forecast.

Based on weather underground forecast, wind both days in the 5-10 range during contest hours.

The field will be open Friday for practice at Noon. I will have a winch.

After practice all are invited back to my house for BBQ. If you think you might attend Friday BBQ, please reply so we have a rough idea of how many, otherwise my wife will stock for a crowd.

For any of the spouses who may be attending and might be looking for something to do in the area here is "Things to do on Long Island this Weekend
http://events.longisland.com/daterange/weekend/

We look forward to seeing you at the contest.
