Hi All,

Specs
Wingspan: 1200mm
AUW: I estimate it will be approx 1kg

ESC: 40A (50A burst)

Construction materials are XPS (extruded polystyrene), plywood and CF rods.
Construction method is ribs and skins.

A few pictures below.

Great start, will be following with much interest in your progress. What thickness foam are you using?

Hi Marty,
I'm using 5-6mm boards for the structural parts and 3-4mm boards for the skins (approximate measures as I cut them with my hotwire bow which is not that precise).

Well that answers another question that has been plaguing me. Here in Thailand, the material is sold as 3mm and 5mm sheets. The 5 is fairly consistent but the 3mm varies form 3.2 to 4 and even varies within the same sheet. I was wondering if they could be trued up using hotwire. hmmm Still thinking about 3mm precision ground steel pieces as guides and sand them into submission.

Those sheets should do just fine. 5mm for ribs, formers, fuselage sides and bottom, and tail feathers. 3mm for skins, you can bend it easily with one of those pizza dough sticks against your tummy. No heat forming required.

Are you going to put fixed or retract landings?

Fixed for the time being.
I might put retracts at a later stage but I'm not a big fan of them.

Ok, Just think about removables ones then, and/or retracts supports before wings are closed...It's easier now then many times later...
