Welcome to the club mate. One of those with brushless/LiPo power would be a nice model. It was good with a geared motor and Ni-Cads, but quite heavy because of them.

Pete has to finish another round fuse design first, hint

I can't throw stones as I am the last person to keep on a build schedule

FWIW, Pat does not cherry pick most of his wood, only the sticks. The cut parts are usually from us, and are contest balsa, same as we put in the Rake kits.

When I build one of Pat's designs I do beef it up a bit. Especially in the LG and motor mount area. I am not near as good a pilot as Pat so my landings are a bit 'rougher'.

The only wood I really handpick is stuff I use for stringers and longerons. I keep some really hard, straight grain balsa sheets around to make sticks from.

PS one other thing about Pat's builds. He uses lighter stringers. Then he sands about half of their thickness away. His motto is "if you haven't broken a stringer you haven't sanded enough".

I have two planes that Pat built. His Cessna Agwagon, modified with a drop chute (for crop dusting) and the conversion of a Dumas Helldiver that he did a long time ago. I had to modify the LG attach point on the Cessna, but, the Helldiver is as he built it. Both fly very well and are both over 5 yrs old now (IIRC the Helldiver is almost 10yrs old).

Charlie, thanks for giving me the Eastbourne. I am grateful.

I've started going over her and double checking everything as I add my own ESC and motor.
