D.VII Maiden

Test flew the latest scratch built from my Dad' shop, a sport scale Fokker D.VII. It has a 28mm Neu/MR inrunner mounted to a custom Great Planes 36mm gearbox. Its swings an APC 15x8 at 700 watts, 44 amps on a 4S 5000mah lipo. I believe the aircraft is around 18% scale.

After some CG adjustments, a couple different props, and an incidence change of the lower "axle wing", its a great flying aircraft. Heavier and faster than his similar sized Sopwith Pup, its actually easier to land due to its ability to lock in, rather than bounce around. All it needs now is a WWI German pilot, and it'll look the part.

Excellent looking D-VII. Nice job. I hope to see it fly sometime.

I'll be flying RRCC field on Sunday if anyone would like to informally race me, weather permitting.

Josh, if you are going out Sunday the drainage ditch before you cross the cattle guard can be a little tricky to get through because of standing water and the road out to the field can become slick and muddy. Be careful because it's about $125.00 to have a tow truck come out to get you unstuck.

Anylink 2

I have a Flyzone Beaver that came with the Anylink receiver. Should I install my own Spektrum receiver or go with the Anylink 2 transmitter.
Thanks for any advice, good or bad.

Thom,

I have an AnyLink on my Futaba FASST 8FG. The only aircraft I use it for is an Axe 100 CP, and I've never had any issues. Reviews online suggest that Tactic is a quality product, just not as popular as Spektrum due to marketing and diversity.

Honestly I don't trust Spektrum due to their early "brown out" issues, but I've read that those issues have been resolved.

From what I understand the brownout issue was caused by the position of the antenna. Once you positioned it sideways to the receiver the problem went away.
I'm going to go ahead and get an Anylink 2 and just have fun. They only thing that I will need to change is the battery connection to a Deans.

Joshua, received a coupon via E-mail from Tower for $10.00 off. Ordered the Anylink 2 for $29.10 including tax and shipping. It should be here Thursday.
Should be fun.
