SOme help with a power system

I have a Extreme FLight RC Edge 540 profile that I want to convert to electric. I have some experience with electric helis, but not with planes.

THe plane is the same in size as the Morris profile kits,

40-50 sized, 45" ws, 700 sq. in. and around 4.5 lbs as a glow setup.

I am looking for suggestions for motor/prop/GB and batteries.

I would like to go LiPos.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mega 22/45/3
MEC super box 3.125/1
Castle Phoenix 80 (or 60)
6S1P Irate 2200
APC E 16x10

You will be pulling rite at 22 amps static, around 470 watts.

Motor and controller run very cool.

I'm flying this combo in a Freedom 3D at exactly 64 ounces AUW. Thrust is aprox 85 ounces. Speed is good. I like it

Thanks for the information!

Will this motor have enough power to easily hover the plane?

I think you need to go with the Mega 22/30/2 geared 4:1 if you can swing a 17X10. This will put you at around 52 amps, your weight should be around 95 oz give or take on a 4S3P and your thrust about 131 (or a T/W of 1.38:1).
If you cant swing a 17" prop, you can either gear down and swing a smaller prop or incerase your voltage (ie: 5S3P). This combo will hover and pull out.

I am almost complete with converting the Mini3D. Chris is a great guy with a very nice product line.

My combo hovers and pulls out nicely at the 64 oz weight. It will depend on your AUW.

Mike's set up will work fine too. But 12 cells will cost twice as much and at 52 amps everything will run very hot.

If you are going to go with 12 cells, I recomend 6S2P with the bigger, low Kv Mega. You can prop for as much as 35 amps and you will still be running a lot cooler than Mikes system and have 50% more power for the same price

Can you say 2 to 1 thrust ratio

Twice as much cost but twice the the duration. Weight is the issue here. This plane is ending up around 100 ounces. My Funtana is at 102 oz AUW, but the 22/30/2 gives me a thrust of 150 oz. My Kyosho Sukhoi also runs a 22/30/2 and gives up about 135 oz of thrust. Both systems run in the mid 50's with no problem.
Either system will work, but I think the 22/30/2 is better suited for this plane. I was over at Extremeflightrc last week visiting Chris and this is a really nice plane. Now if I can just get my hands on the 68" Yak

I like the 22/30/2 option on 10 cells as well.

I am running mine with a 16x8 at 5:1, pulling close to 100 ounces and low 40's in amperage in my Freedom.

I also spoke with Ken at Mega and he's going to run some numbers and make a suggestion. Between whhat he tells me and what you guys have posted, hopefully I can some up with an intelligent choice.

Thanks for the help.

Now if I can figure out how to mount the 4s3p pack on a profile fun fly??

Don't forget the out runner choices.
