My Corsair should hit 100+ flights tomorrow. Only repair; A blob of epoxy on the elevator where my mom grabbed it ,fresh out the box.

I've had at least 5 combos in the F4U-1

For those "in-the-know" on the Corsair, how does this sound for a setup?

what's the capacity of that TP pack ?

I'm unfamilair with the CC 10 I use 25's and a Jes 18

general all around favorite prop for this combo apc 9x6 sf

You'll be light and quick !

I've done most of my 30 or so flights with the Corsair on TP 2s 1320, 25/25-26, JES 18, and a APC 9x6E. I really can't think of anything I'd change about my set-up, I think it's perfect for this plane and the way I fly.

I have an AXI 2208 on the way for mine. My backup plan is the PJS 550 -- plan to use 1200 Etechs (2 or 3) or maybe 1500 Kokams. Do you have some advice for balancing these birds. How far forward did you go with the batteries and your AXI?

Also what is a nice power combination--I am not sure I need 140 watts--thinking that 75 or so should be ok. Am I off with that number?

Well, I flew my stock 350, 8 cell 720 setup yesterday against a friend with GWS with a Himax brushless. He kicked my A$$!. I guess it's time to step up to a 25/25 and 2s lipos. I was happy as long as I was flying alone, but to have a GWS Corsair fly past me was humiliating. Who says GWS are nice little cheap models when you stick a $120 worth of motor and esc in them,... well, two can play that game Captain. Meet you over the firing range Sir, this is war! Watch your six. I'm coming!

Don't know if you can touch a Himax equiped GWS stock, but you can do a bit better than a GWS350 (I assume thats the one you meant) just by going with a speed 300 and a 2s 1320 TP. Of course, you'll never be satisfied until you go with the 25/25. I know others have had problems with 3s on the 25/25, but I have had good luck (so far). Of course, it's so damn fast I usually chicken out and back out of the throttle! If you are buying new batts anyway, try the Tanic 2s 1500. Full throttle in my P-47 for almost the whole flight, and the batt was barely warm to the touch.

Of course you can. Just install a Himaxx in a GWS box and you'll be able to give him a run for his money.

I thought a GWS 350 was "better" than a Graupner Speed 300? Thanks for the battery tips.

What would be better/hotter than a GWS 350. I'm looking to upgrade this motor if possible. What about a speed 400?

Pat,

I'm very unscientific when it comes to balancing,
I just put 'er on my fingers,at the designated balace points under the wing...Then make sure she noses down just a tad..Then I fly.Adjust if necessary.Then make a mark on he batt tray when I like the way she flies. I'm unfamiliar with your motor,but if your numbers check out and you keep 'er light you'll be fine...any of ALFA's recommended set-ups work great as well.

Got an AXI 2208/26 today with the mounting bracket and am thinking about trying that for a starter. Can you post of pix of your motor mount with the AXI? Did your motor stick out far enough that you had to cut a larger hole in the cowling's dummy motor?

Blaze, I can only post my experience, as I don't know how to even use motocalc. I swaped a GWS350 in my Corsair after I burned up the second speed 300, and while I was waiting on the MPjet 25/25-26 to get here. On my Corsair, with 2s 1200 Etecs, the speed 300 was noticably faster. I didn't try any other GB or prop combinations, so it is certainly possible that a GWS 350 can be made faster than a speed 300. I've only had one opportunity to fly with someone that had a GWS Corsair. His was stock, and mine was also (if you accept Speed 300 as stock). He was a much better pilot than I am, and he knew how to use the rudder, so HE flew better than I was capable of. The plane was a no-contest, however. The Alfa was faster, slower, floatier, bigger looping. Probably an unfair comparison, though, as the GWS Corsair weighs a lot more than the Alfa. I really think that the best combo for the Alfa is a Mpjet 25/25-26 (maybe the 25/35) on 3s 1500 Tanics. For as long as the motor lasts, I doubt you'll have any more problems with your friends GWS Corsair. And, of course, your's looks so much better!
