Scratch built and maiden flight

Hi all
I would like to share my latest effort in electric sailplanes.
First of all Ill give you some specs:
wingspan 98 cm
length 57cm
weight 172g with e-tech 2s1p
motor sp 280 sport
Propeller 12 cm/ 5; Propeller pitch 6 cm/ 2.5; Spinner 25 mm; For shaft 2 mm
Teltech Eric HLG had inspired me for wing planform and structure.
Fuse is pod and boom with pod made of 3mm balsa and thin fibreglass .
Boom is a piece of carbon fishing pole.
Internals are: Jeti 050 speed controller, graupner xp8 rx, C1041 servos.

The glider on the left is a scratchbuilt MHLG based on HL1 japanese sailplane.
A special feature of my electric assisted sailplane is folding prop system wich stops the prop windmilling when you stop the motor.
An odontological rubber band is passed in the grooves cutted in the back of the hub.
A ply plate is glued on the bottom of the hub with two little slices of cork glued at the ends.
A 200 glasspaper washer is then glued on the top side of a speed 280.
The cork will interact (friction) with the glasspaper whenthe prop will stop to push due to the play of the motor.
It works like a charm!

Is that Milano as in the place in Italy or the cookies by Pepperidge Farm?

I read with interest your folding prop assist system, since I also have a non-brake Esc and am tired of the blades windmilling around. So basically you have a friction substance that, when the motor is no longer pulling, the slop in the motor fore-and-aft lets the air flow push the back of the prop or spinner onto. Michaelangelo would be proud.

Nope Sir, is Milano ,in northern Italy
Even i was tired of windmilling props on my plane.
One day ,in an indoor meeting, i met an old man with a sailplane featuring this system. He explained me all and i was really impressed His name is Roberto Varetto. He is really a genius!
Maybe tomorrow i'll post some photos of the system , but what do you think about the plane itself?
Best regards

Cuddles

Thanx a lot Anfarol
I think this system must be applied to every e-sailplane,even if you have an ESC brake ,for backup
This morning i phoned to Mr Varetto to ask him if i could release his system: he was enticed
Best regards

what I think of the plane

nice planform- this is the shape of the wings and tail. Polyhedral makes it easier to turn too. I don't have a mixer so no v tail for me. There is a guy over here who is a big low-speed aerodynamics expert. his name is dr. Drela. look for his airfoils on the net

Hi all
I've build this e-sailplane to bring it with me when i go around in motorbike. The wing can be dismantled in three pieces so the whole plane can fit with tx in a backpack
A ride should be much more interesting then
Best regards
