Boscam 5.8GHz 200mw FPV set

Hey everybody,

Maybe someone can help me out.
I just received this set and want to use it on my TBS Discovery

Thankfully through this forum I figured out how to set the switches right.
I am powering the VTX with a 3s 800 mAh Lipo.

Monitor and VRX are powered also by a 3S LiPo.

I get video signal when the quad is not moving and close to the RX but even when I just pick up the quad and move around in the room the signal will already start to cut out.

When I am flying the signal stays pretty clear when I hover almost next to my ground station but as soon as I move away just a little Signal is gone.

I read on some thread here to try the Max/ Min Settings for the Switch settings
(All up on RX all down on TX) those work fine I get Image but same problem with range of maybe 1-2 Meters.

Right now I am using the stock antennas but even those should give me a little more than a meter of range right?

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

Happy flying!

Did you try and power on without an antenna? Even if it was on for a few seconds it could have burnt out.

Hey no I always had the antennas attached.

I made a little video to demonstrate the problem.

Are you sure you did?

Those symptoms sound like mismatched channels too me.

Keep in mind that in those Boscam sets the switches are represented differently on Tx and Rx packaging. On one end toggle switch is the white square, on the other end the switch is pictured as a black square.
You swicthes should essentially be a mirrored image. Switch 4 does nothing as this channel assignment is binary.

Hi I have tried a lot of combinations. This is the pic I am talking about:

Right now I am on Channel 1 according to this, but also have tried a couple of others no Improvement what so ever.

I also replaced the VTX so the antenna is facing downward. No improvement either.

Trash those antennas, you'll go nowhere with them.
I have the same kit and I didn't even bothered to used them... I think they wen't straight to the bin.
You'll probably get 200m at best.

Hey if I would get 50m I would be grateful but we are talking about not even 2 meters here

I have uploaded another video this is me trying it indoors with just power to VTX/RX and nothing else.

Well if you only get 50m and assuming nothing is damaged.
You either are using bad antennas (wrong conector) but I believe you're using the stock ones or the TX and RX are running on different channels.

That is weird.
Notice how it never goes to snow.
It looks like a very strong signal and then PoP.. its gone.
after looking at the second video I would say it a bad cable connection between the video out of the RC305 and the video in of the LCD monitor.

Jiggle your cables...

Ok tried jiggling all wires on groundstation. It is fine on this end. I suspect that the antennas are just really really bad.
I ordered a pair of skew antennas and we will see if it gets better then.

A few people suggested a burnt out unit, but wouldn't I just not get any signal at all if this was the case? Unit was not used without antennas just to clarify

Hi did you find what caused your short range?? I am only getting about 60ft - 20mtrs of range with my same setup and I tried both stock antennas and clover leaf ones same result!!! My RX only gets a signal if I have the dip switches 1 and 2 up and 3 down...4 doesn't make any difference!! What channel or dip switch positions should I have on my VTX to get the best range on this channel?? thanks for your help
