Discus Launch Boom Flex Pics
Below are some pictures that I promised in the Stop Action Sequence thread. They are of Don Ressler throwing his Taboo XL in the direction of the camera. The frame grabs are from two different throws.
The one on the right is a good example of how much the boom can flex on a state-of-the-art discus launch glider.
The one on the left also shows the boom flex to some extent, but really shows how the boom also twists. Notice the angle of the stab with respect to the wing. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that there is more rudder area above the center line than below. Imagine what it would look like with no sub-fin!
Now, be honest, doesn't this make some of you guys cringe?
