Bending spruce

Bending spruce was never considered practical. There was the failed fiberglass experiment & the idea of gluing triangle shaped wood. The only way to bend spruce was believed to be steaming it, then clamping it in a jig.

After all that time, finally played with soaking it in hot water, then drying it with the heat gun while bending it. It seemed to achieve the desired angle & retain it after drying. It was the simplest way to deflect the motor.

Can't vouch for any improvement in efficiency. The coning angle is certainly gone & all the lift is pointing up. There seems to be less lateral stability. After going through a bag of propellers in 1 day of flying, it clearly needs a bigger budget.
