Looks like you're reporting the same things I found with the Kokams. They just don't get the voltage to the motor and the output wattage suffers. I'm curious, what are those 1500's rated at "C" wise. I know the packs I tried were so far overrated that it did damage to them when I run them at what they had told everybody to. They also didn't stand behind them when I called to ask what they were going to do about the issue...even after they had lowered the C rating.

I got them from Light Flight RC and they're rated at 8 - 10 C. It's really a good fit for this motor because it's efficient operating current is between 5 and 12 amps. They're just "warm" to the touch after a flight - definitely not anywhere near too hot.

Conversion from stock design with Master motor and gearbox to Axi during construction. Flies really well, tends to climb at 50-60 degress on full throtlle, need more down thrust (currently at 2 deg). Idles around the sky without loosing height at approx 6.5 amp draw. Flight times with three or four touch and goes and the rest lazy flight 29 mins measured

Comments: A nice powerful setup that's more than enough for a stick-and-tissue model designed for rubber power. Just over 1:1 thrust (maybe 16 oz.), will cruise easily at 1/2 throttle, 10-11-minute flights. Night-and-day improvement over IPS power system previously installed.

For those of you that have RAZOR RZ-400/350 motors then, here's another way to secure your motor in the GWS EPS-300/350 gearbox. The O-Ring is available from HOME DEPOT and improves the side loads and reduces the stress on the front attaching hex motor screws!

For those of you that have removed the motor from the gearbox several times you may have notice that the thread on the motor front case my have enlarged or a slightly enlarged that those screws tend to come out at the most unlikely time such as in-flight!

I used plumbers tape (White Flexable and stretchy) with great success. I think they call it TEFLON TAPE? I cut a small strip and wrap it around the hex screw and then, screw it into the motor which acts like Loc Tie but, with much safer conditions!

RESULTS: FANTASTIC!

She flew for a short 8 minute and 19 second flight during lunch time at the Space Center and the motor/gearbox stayed in one piece finally and the landing was super smooth!

Acent With Cobalt Motor upgrade.


400 can with Lite AAA 700 cells Good. But 400 Cobalt 190+Watts and 1100 kan 8 cells better.
