The wind was greatest above 1000ft it said on the news and on sierra winds were about 30mph but going directly North so it was useless. Went to comm hill and the trail up was fenced off with a lot of no trespassing signs. However when I was about to drive back I saw two flyers walking down, they had found another entrance with no signs or fences less than a block away. I ended up flying there with winds about 15-20mph. Locals were also on the trail so it didn't seem like we were being targeted and forced out by people who live there. Take the time to enjoy comm hill it might be closed off soon for housing development.

Is that the one by the transformer box on Adeline Ave or did they hike up the hill further down on Casselino Dr?

Well it's a New Year and it looks like we have some weather coming in tomorrow

If the rain breaks, it looks like Coyote Hills might be a perfect site for the forecasted wind direction.

And Sunday's Forecast looks like Clearing WInds

Looking for a flyable wind,....

.....as I have a few new toys I want to try out. But forecasts are showing mostly E or NE for the next week+. I might have to scope out some new E to NE facing slopes.

How is Comm Hill in a NE wind?

Anybody have a E slope close to So Bay?

Livermore tower says NE@13mph , DV north side should be working , I got some good flights in Sunday and the wind is building this afternoon.

That's Del Valle Rd & Mendenhall Rd off Mines Rd?

Looks like about 30mins out from Fremont, on Googles Map.

Is it flyable at 6mph? That looks like Sat forecast

That is correct , but it needs to be 12mph+ at the site to make it flyable on that side. You can fly it but you can't make it over the road to the LZ.

Is it flyable next Tuesday in Comm Hill ? Or recommend me a good place to try.
I am going to San Jose next Monday and bring my KATO and Alura.

Mr Kim,

Tuesday looks like a very light and mostly E day. I would think Comm Hill, having a NE face might work for a Kato Lite and/or the La Fayette levies I found might also work.

Up here, it seems most would prefer Livermore's Del Valle Rd in an E or NE, but as Earl stated, it seems to need a higher velocit to Light it Off.

I may try Del Valle Rd tomorrow with a single digit velocity forecasted

Chip ,thanks for the information. I may stay in Sunnyvale for a week.
Livermore is too far. I will try comm hill or La Fayette which is more closer .
Since I built KATO, I tossed it several time at Torrey. But wind was not such supportive.

Another weekend of looking for some wind,...

.....maybe a light WNW or NW today, which might get Sierra Rd or Coyote going. The forecast for tomorrow looks mostly W which shoould be nice for Coyote Hill, even if still single digits.

Updated photo/site for Sierra Rd,

....I think it has a NW facing slope, to the north of the road bend.

I had the wrong slope site in my previous post.
