Hey Lenny,

Wow I was way off. Thanks for the advise. I'll try it out on 3S first and then move up to the 4S configuration.

Missed you at the F5J contest in NC this spring, I meet you out here last year.

Thanks,
Duane

If it is really a 1.5D this is correct, but strange. The plane was designed for High Voltage batteries. The 1.5Y motor would be for 6-8 cells...

Got to maiden the Formula last week. Wow! I was impressed! Took it up to 500ft and came screaming down proceeded by a large circle around our group of pilots. One of the pilots asked how much throttle I had on it while circling our position. I told him that i had no throttle on and he couldn't believe it. Love the energy retention! I can see why everyone loves these planes.

Finally had the chance to fly the Formula in a 4s configuration. So far all my flights have been in a 3s configuration. Flys great on 3s, but when I go with a 4s battery the motor is cutting out on me. If I go with half throttle it seems to do OK.
Its a Neu 1509/1.5D motor, 6.7 gearbox
Castle ICE Lite 100 speed control
RFM 16X17 prop, 38MM RFM spinner

I guess I new to get a watt meter out and see if its pulling too many amps.
I'm using Tattu - 4S - 2300mah - 45C LiPo Batteries.

Or could it be some kind of setting with the speed controller?

Thanks for any input.
Glider guy trying to figure out this electric stuff.

Put an Amp meter on it . 3S pack goes to full power drawing 70amps. When I go with the 4S pack as soon as I throttle past 70amps the motor cuts off. Ordered a castle link so I can check the speed controllers settings. I'll post when I check that. Thanks
