Easy way to calculate antenna legth

Here's a link for antenna length calculations. Just put in the frequency for whatever channel you're using and click submit.

And here's a link for exact frequency by channel number. But how important is it to have the antenna length tuned to the exact frequency of each channel, or does 39 inches work just fine for all of the 72mHz channels?

The trailing wire antenna need only be a quarter wavelength long.

The wavelength at 72 MHz is approximately 4 meters.

A one-meter wire length is close enough. There are other effects that will act to alter the exact length, but for practical use it's adequate.
