I found mine to consistently show GPS coordinates that were 40 miles away from where I actually was. That said I wish they would offer just the osd without the GPS puck as it takes up less space than my other simple osd's since all the pins are on one side.

I'm having issues getting a fix on GPS. Does the GPS require 5v or 12v to operate?

Does this custom code fix the GPS errors? I have heard from several others that this OSD has horrible GPS, and coordinates are often 40-50 miles away from the actual location.

That sounds more like they didn't have a good enough lock.

I've used it with the cl-osd flash, and whilst it is not the most repsonsive OSD out there, it's great for the price. It's saved me a few times when I've been disorientated.

Next time you are in the field, check the coordinates displayed on the OSD against Google Maps.

Does anybody have any in flight footage of this OSD with the CL-OSD firmware?

is anyone else having issues with the crappy SIRFSyar II GPS module not wanting to perform a hot/warm start correctly? It takes forever to get a lock. When it finally does, power cycling it causes it to do a cold start and start from scratch trying to get a fix. It doesn't appear that the battery backup is being of any use. It should lock right away after having a fix and then rebooting it, but it ends up taking forever to locate sats. what gives? anyone having this issue?

The batteries are shot before you get them.

ok, that makes sense, so is it just a question of replacing the battery?
