Be sure to get the programming card as it is necessary to set up. Even with the card it is tricky. The short wire from the ESC goes to the lower middle connection on the card, but the ESC main battery has to be hooked up, along with a flight pack battery (or powered RX) to the lower right connection. Two pages of settings on the card is also confusing... The loose flap is the first set of settings and the one glued to the programming card is the second set (which is accessed by pushing both left corner switches simultaneously).
Lots of head scratching required but it eventually makes sense...

The YEP controllers have active freewheeling which is an important advance in esc's. If you missed it, go to this thread and read through it and in particular see post 50 where I attempt to explain active freewheeling.
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...yep+esc&page=4
I now have some flying time with the regular and HV YEP controllers and the extra flying time is very noticeable. With high power setups much more time is spent at part throttle where active freewheeling makes the biggest difference putting more energy into the motor and less heating of the esc.

Thanks for the Freewheeling explanation Tom,
One question about programming the YEP. There is the top line of the second set of options that lets you choose Freewheel on/off but it also has Governor off/store etc.

The Gov function is for Heli use (from what I understand) so I definitely select that off, but can the Freewheel be selected on from the same line of options? I can only make one selection per line (or am I doing something wrong)...

Thanks for any input!

Hi Eric,

you can do more selections per line, for example,
"cut off type, accutype" slow down and lipo
you can also select in the first line on side 2 Freewheel off and Gov. off
the importend thing in programming is, that you can hear a clear beep after hit the enter button.

Your both most welcome. Still waiting on the first one I bought from HK. Althought, as in my first post they suggested it was in, it has not shipped. Did however "spend " a little time in there chat room this AM. asking where it was.

I flew my first one as shipped (no stock on cards) and it was a reeeaaallll slow acceleration but flew ok. Must come in heli mode. I bought a yge card at 3 times retail and it worked fine. I then finally got a yep card and it appears and works like the yge card. If anybody needs one in a hurry, I could mail it and return it when you get one.

Pgrm Cards in Stock, and Manuals for Opeation and Programing

Here is the program card in stock. There is also a download for the manual (not the easiest "english" to understand, but workable

This page has the Hi Models Ice version of the esc and also has two manuals which show how to program the esc without the card.
