It is scratch build from my own plans. Yes, I hand launch it. It is a little too small for grass.

1/2a Flyer!
A couple of picts of a recent flying day. Red one is Hat Trick, the other is a new version. Both fly very well, the black wing one is the better plane.

I AM A ROCKET SCIENTIST!
Bipe Flyer,

Is that staggerspeck a kit, plan or scratchbuild? That's really cool! Could it be converted to speed 400?

The Staggerspeck is my own design.
You can download it from the "1/2A all the way" site. http://groups.msn.com/12Aalltheway
Go to "Documents" > "Plans"
It is way too small for a speed 400, more like ann EDP50. You could scale it up though.

I made a similar one that is larger without the reverse stagger and is powered by an IPS A drive.

I guess I had better post a 1/2A plane to make up for the picture of an electric.

Scaled down Sig Kougar.

Woody

Here is my first 1/2a plane, the Woody. I built it from the free plans in a recent issue of AMI. This plane is rudder only, and uses the COX PeeWee 020 for power. This little engine has more than enough power for a very steep climbout until the plane is too high to see properly. (full rudder input then dives the plane back down to a safer altitude). The engine runs for 1.5-2 minutes, and my best flight time so far is 4min, 40sec. The engine starts easily, and I have flown it 25 times in the last week.

My latest, the Low Stik. Span 34", weight, 15 ounces. Modified hybrid Wasp/Norvel .061. Flown as glow and diesel and now permanently dieselized.

A Norvel .074 muffler has been installed along with a FlyQuiet tubing exhaust extension.

It's obviously no fun at all.
