Wonder how many guys will believe us when we tell 'em you can roll and loop that model with that radio.

That model is beautiful... nice and clean presentation.

Please send me plans!

This is a model I have had many versions/evolutions of...

This one has about 400 flights on it now.
It's powered by a Frio-10... nothing to write home about but it gets it up and down for par every time.

This is called the Scalpel. I built it from skaliwag's drawings/pre-production kit. It's inspired by the old ACE Simple 400. It employs the tapered ACE foam wing cores. Has spars made from carbon fiber tow thread. It will hopefully be available soon from Select Hobbies.

It's powered by a Mangusta DR .049 rear rotary induction engine. I've had this engine for over 3 years and have been waiting for the right plane to put it on. It seemed like a good match.

The radio receiver is a Spektrum 6115e 2.4 park flyer unit. Powered by a 400mah 6V NiMH battery pack. Has a Hitec HS65 servo on the ailerons and Dymond D47s on the rudder and elevator.

Covering consists of Coverite Microlite on the wing and Monokote on the rest.

There is a full build thread of this plane over at the RCU 1/2A forum.

That bespoke motor have perf specs or is it mostly pretty?
Only asking about it, as I have not seen one, other than as screen images

Thanks, Bare.

The 1st few tanks were richly run with a Cox black rubber ducky 5x3 and yielded only 15.4k rpms(posted a video of that on here a while back). I later switched out to an APC 5x3 and ran another tank thru it and achieved a fairly steady 19.5k. I then went back to building the airframe and never tweaked with the engine further. I'm hoping that it will spin the 5x3 consistently near the 20k range once fully broken in. Time will tell. I will probably test it with a 4.2x4 as well but in my past experience, these props allow high rpms without much more top end speed of a model in this size and weight range. The higher rpms seem to cause more wear and tear and required resetting the piston/rod clearance after every few runs. I'm more than happy to sacrifice a touch of speed to make this engine spin at a safe and reliable rpm.

It may not outperform a standard TD but it definitely wins points for it's cool uniqueness. For all I know, this may be the only one that's actually bolted to a firewall at this time. I don't think Tim made very many of them.

My latest work. Finally finished the Sig Hummer. It was under construction while the Jr Falcon was being built. I usually have 2 or more going at the same time. Tee Dee with pressure from crank case AUW 16 oz. Monokote wings, silk span/dope fuse painted in KlassKote. This is the one the yellow paint messed up real bad on and I had to sand it down and re-shoot. Was a laser cut scratch build from some old plans I had.
